Dectanes

Post by seaneb » Mon Apr 07, 2014 5:06 pm

I would like to purchase some of these for my saloon. Apparently the earlier ones with bulbs for the indicators are the ones to get due to the later LED type indicators being difficult to see in sunlight. That's a fair point and I think it would be irresponsible to get the LED ones and risk insurance not paying out because another driver claimed to have not seen you indicate due to a modification to the vehicle.
What I want to know though is whether any of the Dectane range are actually legal for UK roads because, from what I can tell, there are no reflectors incorporated into them. (Apart from the last ones on the page which are not an option for my car in my opinion)!!

I only have experience of the LED ones and can vouch for them being entirely unsuitable. I fitted some and removed them after a few weeks as they were dangerous - people just couldn't see the indicators well enough (not even just in sunlight, they were very angle dependent) and I was subject to many choice hand gestures and a near miss.

So people that never use indicators - and there are a lot of them - must also often get these gestures and near misses. You'd think they'd put 2 and 2 together sooner or later.
Daytona RS6 C5 Avant. Viper'd, Billies, Waggers, MTM box brain, C6 stoppers, xcarlink, R8 coolant cap (woohoo)
