ok cool, sounds reasonable, but I could not bring myself to order a half pint, will give the northerners something to brag about ;) lol

He will be hiring a race preped Clio from a team on our championship, it will either be a MK2 Clio or MR2, think he will go with the Clio. The Clio he will be racing will be in the production series (E Class) I race in the A class for reference, but we will be on the same grid with the other 4 classes

It wouldn't have been possible doing 28pints! We were on the go from 1030am to 1030pm at night when we got in the last place in time for last orders....

Yep, will be in a production Clio 172 for Snett with a plan to do a full season next year if I like the Clio, I have also been looking to buy my old Mini track toy back to race in as I still miss it.

I am not expecting miracles at Snett but it is a track I know well so I will hopefully won't get lapped. I will have a test day beforehand to hopefully get to grips of the car as its a bit different from the Exige.

You will do well at Snet mate, the Clio you will get to grips with, within the first few laps as its such an easy car to drive. Just remember that they don't like cold tyres so go easy on first lap or 2, oh and if the rear does step out, steer in and floor it ;)

Do you know what suspension they are fitting to it? Does it have the rear inboard suspension (bee hives) or outboard rear coilovers?

I can find out from Tony if you dont as i believe he had an input to the Production regs. I know you are not allowed solid top mounts

Finally got the new rear suspension on the car with "new rear ride height" from Spax (long story wont go over it again) and also adjusted the front camber in the Paddock (was miles out) the night before, didn't manage to have time to corner weight the car or do a toe alignment (used a long spirit level and a finger lol), so was pretty much going out on track blind...for once the car handled like a dream and put my confidence back into the car. At Rockingham last month it was diabolical, due to a later discovered blown shock absorber.

I also changed the camera position, think that looks better, the driver cam I will raise up a bit so its more shoulder height, I was having recording problems that day, the quali session didnt record due to a SD card error.

Quali:

12th / 35

Race 1

Finished 9th/35 won 3rd in Class

Applied to much threshold breaking while going into Camp corner in Lap 3 resulting i the power band dropping below the torque curve, quick flick into 3rd to recover....that mistake cost me a place, took me half the race to recover position from the Pug 306 , but was so much fun...good driving

Race 2

Had problems getting off the line, tried to experiment trying a different RPM standing start that failed and lost 2 places, again to the Pug and to the Scooby (KPR), I manage to overtake the scooby on the outside of Quarry, and then tried to regain 3rd in Class position off the Pug....had a little off at the Esses, was too busy watching Dave and the Pug playing, missed breaking point Doh I was much faster in the 2nd race (as was everyone else), until the red lights/flags was waved to signal race stopped. I assumed it was a restart then the ambulance pulled out in front of me...not good. Went back round to the start line and saw the poor Nippon car on its roof, so glad the driver was ok. With that Nippon car and Tonys engine/box going bang, it puts a downer on the day. At least we can all fight another battle in one piece ;)

Finished 9th/34 (race red flagged) PIC 4th

What an awesome days racing, roll on Donny :)

Nice overtake on the Scooby!

You are always going to be fighting wheelspin off the line, maybe quicker to try and manage the wheelspin in first rather than short shifting to second?

That new fifth gear is superb! Must make a huge difference, also saves having to absolutely red line four each time. First to fourth and the final drive are the same as stock?

I was short shifting from 4th to 5th, to maximise the straights.

Yes eom FD and gears 1-4 closer 5th 33/37

The closer 5 is awesome.

Back to Donny in a few weeks for round 3

Regarding the excessive wheel spin, excessive camber can promote it die to smaller tyre contact patch.
