Some comparisons and new toys!

Post by VARSITY » Sun Apr 06, 2014 7:46 pm

I had the fortune of using another RS6 this weekend to travel to the 24hour testing and qualifying at the Ring.

The car is in the uninspiring, but head turning and eye popping priced Matte Grey with the std leather crocodile interior.

However, the options list from there on got a little confusing for me, but all the same interesting as these were the options I considered, but chose to spend my money elsewhere.

The first was the lane assist, now I have never used this before, so excuse me for saying the following. What fun, its almost there to keep you doing it just to see if it works and it does.Hours of fun and what a clever idea, but worth the money? Not for me, so thats the first phew and wipe of the brow and happy sigh that I didn't waste my money.

Next.....Night vision. Absolutely brilliant.....for 1 minute then when you realise that unless you were lost in a war zone, or stalking some wild boar then you wouldn't really need it. Another wipe of the brow and a second mark for sensibility.

HUD. I had this on my Z06 and hated it then, nothing has moved on since, but can understand if you use it for the nav prompts. If you have it on the same time as the night vision, keep a bucket close, you will be sick.

QR9 speed info. This is a definite plus, until you drive in Europe and the speed is still in MPH and the speed for the area you are in is in KPH. 'Sorry officer, its Audi's fault!"

The last item thats different to my car, and is actually not an option, but is std on this car is the steel brake discs. Before you all start laughing, I rate them, in fact, unless you are going on track (those that know what happened to my CCB 2 days after getting the car can chuckle now...) then these are more than capable and in fact would go so far as saying they were better, yes thats right BETTER and the biggest saving on spec too.

The one thing that the RS6 missed the most was the drama of the Milltek exhaust. Even if you pay the £1000 for the Audi sports exhaust, you won't regret it. Anyone who has a std exhaust is missing out in a big way.

All in, I still believe that this is, if not the best, its one of the best cars I have ever owned and I absolutely am in love with it.

Cheers
Never argue with an idiot, they will drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.
