Audi Customer care email address? Dealer riping me off?

Post by tartan_rob » Sat Mar 29, 2014 5:59 pm

Guys - I have had my C6 RS6 since about June last year and really enjoy her.

I put her into Tetbury Audi approx 3 weeks ago in order to understand what was causing suspension knocking. I am now being told that as the car has been mapped and the warranty will not pay £1500 + VAT for DRC transfer valves.

I bought the car from Stafford Audi as an approved used sale and I HAVE NOT modified the car in any way. I know that a re-flash will store the date/time so I have a good leg to stand on to prove it did not happen whilst I had possession of the car. Does anyone have an email address or contact info for anyone at Audi UK that can help me?

Thanks in advance,
Rob

So they have sold you a mapped car?

And now are squirming out of paying?

Suppose the problem is proving you haven't mapped it?

Bloody scandalous IMO...good enough to take people's reddies to sell you car!!!

Dealers should really flash the ECU's with a stock map as part of Used prep.

So it's been mapped, but what has that got to do with the DRC failing.I'm pretty sure they have to prove the fault has been caused by the modification, if the engine blew up then fair enough, but DRC failure is not related to a remap. If it had a Milltek fitted and the electric window failed would they also void the warranty? In your case surely they will have to prove that the map was done under your ownership.

Surely a time and date can be detected when map was put on??

Croc of <beep>!

So what if your car has a remap? Does increased power mean the suspension fails?

I would call stafford audi who sold you the car, speak to the used sales manager, explain the situation tat you bought the ar from them, you haven't modified it, and now there are warranty issues.

I am sure he can square it with the other dealer, if not then possibly take it into his workshop and repair.

I am surprised to have been declined warranty assistance, the dealer has just shot themselves in the foot as they get paid by the warranty company so in essence turned work away. In addition to that, any member reading this would also avoid them if modified as they are not mod friendly! Some dealers are more understanding than others.

Still, best start with stafford.

Good luck

The Audi approved warranty is very good but does have resrictions such as the map issue. The fully comprehensive covers most items but does rely on the car being standard spec. I think you should be ok just contact Audi UK.

So the issue seemed to be that the car is un-modifed but the dealer pulled up the details of a mapped car...! Anyway they are fixing it under warranty but the funny thing is that both Audi UK and selling dealer could not understand why the Warranty company would not cough up for a suspension issue IF the car was mapped.

I was surprised to hear Audi UK say that to me but I quote "even if your car is mapped, that should not stop the warranty coughing up".....

As above - a warranty is technically an insurance product so has some very strict rules.
So if you say swapped the exhaust over for non-oem and the sunroof stopped working they can't say it was because of the modifications unless they can prove it.

Hmm, I'm not so sure. Audi warrant the product as it left the factory. Ergo, you change that product you risk claim denial.

The answer to the above is in the wording of the warranty. The warranty bought/given/etc is final in all instances.

Much like an insurance claim if you hit a car pulling out in front of you. If you are proven over the speed limit even if the 'fault' of the incident lies solely with the car pulling out, insurance companies will use your speed as an invalidation of your insurance.

Same here. I think you'll find the Audi garage you deal with will make a decision on how much to say to the warranty company. At the end of the day (without reading the warranty) I'd expect that their obligation is to inform the warranty company of any changes to the car, and I'd suggest that a warranty company would latch onto anything they know about to invalidate that warranty. In the most case at least.

Ofc if your friendly with, or have a half decent dealer they may 'choose' to with hold info they might deem non-consequential.

Been here before with this debate, and my wigged missus tells me otherwise.
