B5 RS4 OEM suspension settings

Post by IchBautAuto » Tue Mar 04, 2014 6:49 am

Hi,

I'm from Australia where there is a low number of B5 RS4s on the road. I have recently acquired my RS4 and as far as I know (from the receipts and records) my car has the original suspension but no idea if that is the RS standard or the quattro option. Anyway assuming the RS standard, I am in the process of commencing a full underbody rebuild and would really like to know what suspension base I am starting from.

I have been unable to find any information on the OEM suspension, either spring rates or any damper compression / rebound rates. Coil overs aren't on my list as I need to maintain the maximum ride height so my initial thoughts are towards replacement damper / spring kits, probably Bilstein and Eibach. It seems that there are no kits specifically for the RS4 and most are using the S4 kits with some success.

Does anyone have any information on the OEM suspension? I can get the existing spring rate once the suspension is removed and the springs tested and that leaves me with the car on blocks for weeks instead of having a replacement solution on hand to swap out.

Any and all assistance would be really appreciated.
