Insurance
Hi,
I know a few of you have sports exhaust fitted, couple of questions......
Did you inform your insurance companies?
If so does it have a big effect on the premium?
Not told my insurance company yet but feeling like i should as sure they would use any excuse to get out of not paying for something.....
Cheers

Not a good idea, tell them immediately. I got unwelcome and unwarranted abuse on here when someone thought I hadn't told my insurance company despite me clearly (I thought) posting that I had told them...Cp rs4 wrote:Not told my insurance company yet

Re: Insurance
Yeah. No brainier. Declare all. It'll just bite you on the arse if you don't. I've just had a 3k claim on mine, called and declared map and new exhaust and resulted in no extra to pay...

Will give them a call as was not sure if required, hence the post......
Sure it will give them an excuse to raise the premium

Re: Insurance
Just not worth the risk. Even if your premium does increase slightly, which seems unlikely judging by the above posts, it's unlikely to be much, and worth it if the worst come to the worst and you have to make a claim.
Told mine about the spacers too. They weren't concerned and just noted it on my record.

Misano Red B7 RS4 Avant. 20" Rotors. KW adjustable spring kit. 8 & 10mm H&R spacers. MRC Stage 2 remap. Pre-cat delete & x-pipe.
Re: Insurance
Had my renewal through and informed them about, springs, spacers and rims.
Was told it didn't effect my premium in the slightest.
Best be safe than sorry.

Re: Insurance
Hi,
Informed insurance company (aviva) about fitting the Milltek exhaust and they have noted down; and as no extra cost based on being cosmetic.
Is this right as they asked me if it increased the performance of the car, I replied the car is down as 420bhp and on the rolling road with the new exhaust the car is currently 388bhp - guy said must be cosmetic then
I said I would confirm if there is any power gain from the exhaust, guy said I am covered for it and took the value but to come back if power gains are given?
Just wondering what the views are on this ?
Cheers

Re: Insurance
+1 all the way on advising on all mods, mine are listed on my schedule so I have no worries - 'Suspension tuning modifications, Performance exhaust change and engine remapping"wrekka wrote:Which insurance companies are you all with?
It made no difference to my policy and I am with a 'mod friendly' company - Adrian Flux
Re: Insurance
Do adrian flux cover the price of the mods though?

Re: Insurance
"out the box" - No. However - at renewal I had the option to have an agreed value added to the policy which was around £180 for a £25k value IIRCwrekka wrote:Do adrian flux cover the price of the mods though?
Re: Insurance
I had my renewal through from Privilege including the mods I had added last year and it was high. Tried confused and the likes of, but the quotes were coming up even higher! After some Googling and looking through this forum, I ended up going with Keith Michaels. Their a broker that specialise in modifications, sorted

Re: Insurance
As a lawyer, my advice is that you must tell them. Insurance contracts are uberrimae fidei, which is latin for contracts of the utmost good faith. in plain terms, that means that the onus is on the insured to tell their insurers about anything that might affect the insurers decision to continue to extend insurance cover, or to continue to extend it on the same terms. You should therefore tell them about ANY change to your car, and then let them decide what to do. Failure to do so might invalidate your insurance cover, however insignificant you might think the change to your car is.
