Black

Post by MartynC » Sat Dec 11, 2004 6:24 pm

My 6 Plus is silver 'cos I didn't think the dark wheels would look good against a black car.........I was wrong, looks great, get it on the road and enjoy it!

Cheers

Had I been in a position to choose the colour scheme I think I'd have struggled to choose between the black and the silver. But I wasnt...
By the way i saw the first + on the road on the way down to the dealer last Friday - it was on the M6 heading northbound close to the A50 turnoff. A silver one, looked awesome. You perchance?

Oh and Dave, the reason I never cleaned the brake dust off the wheels of the normal 6 was so it looked a bit like a +. Now I wont need to! (Clean the wheels that is)
And....have decided to give into my impatience and to have it straight away. Hopefully this week.

I can confirm that it's ace! Have given myself earache from driving round with the window down to listen to the exhaust.

Haven't got the hang of this lark yet, so bare with me...

Had an RS2 for 5 years from new, then RS4 for a few months ('til I got a company car) and couldn't resist the Audi picture of Sprint Blue RS6+ which reminded me of my other dechromed beauties. (Don't do metal mirrors either). Out went the Cayenne Turbo (too big for serious fun on narrow roads) and I did 600 miles on Sep 1st after my car had been sat waiting in my garage for a couple of weeks. Realise now what I had been missing, but strangely didn't know you could dechrome regular RS6, and wasn't really interested in performance/Tiptronic combination until realised what Cayenne could do with it.

I nickname mine "The Bullet" due to it's number/999, and although they wouldn't do black Alcantara (as per Siver +), I think black leather (no Alcantara except headlining etc.) doesn't look too sombre. (Chaq'un a son gout).

MartynC - you may have seen my old RS2 about some years back when I was living off J25. (Famous name as reg - not that I'm famous!)

Hi Jeeves - like the sound of yours I must say with the all-black interior. At the risk of showing total ignorance, what number/999 IS it?
As an aside, I just went to Edinburgh and back overnight for Hogmanay. Won't reveal average time/speed (officer!) but it was nothing short of amazing particularly in the way it performed in the truly atrocious gales and sleet most of the way back. Rock steady. And, by the way, 19mpg average - not bad at all in the circumstances I reckon.

Bit reluctant to reveal what amounts to the VIN, but just think of a largish bore WW2 rifle calibre and maybe West Country road and you'll get the picture.

The black/black isn't as bad as you might think as the (non-solar) sunroof brightens things up.

Did Hogmanay last year up there, and it was murrrrrrrderrrrrrr. allroad coped well, but roofbox was a bit of a liability.

19's OK. I did similar on my first trip up there, but the car came into its own on A75 where MPG must have dropped considerably. (If only the previous 3 hrs had been as much fun as the last one...)

Jeeves, if I had that Vin I think I would call it Harry, but maybe that's just me!..............(instead of Lee you understand!)

As you say re the interior, to each his own and I'm pleased with the end result.

I would have had a red RS2 at the same time you had yours, same reg as I have now. Is your reg the same and if not what was it? See if it rings any bells with me.

Cheers, Martyn

Call me paranoid, but not sure if I should say (just in case). Got the car from Chevin @ Derby and put a plate on that spells a celebrity's name. A bit crude, but like the car she was hot and fast, and I would have liked to get inside her (definitely not a virgin). Same plate went onto RS4 and now resides on my Clio 172 Cup (utility car).

Cheers
