Aaaaaaaarrrrrghhhh! SD music playback/Bluetooth???

Post by BadWaz » Wed Feb 05, 2014 12:44 pm

Does anyone know how to talk me through mp3 playback in the S4 using the SatNav SD slots? I've heard it's a ballache and only slow low memory cards are suitable?
Also how do I need to buy the bluetooth cradle for the armrest to pair my phone? I use the phone preperation menu but most options are not selectable? :bash:

Thanks in advance for any replies.

You can only use sd cards not hc ones. Normal max of 2gb but there are a few 4gb ones out there. Also have you got the buttons on the steering wheel? If not then probably have no bluetooth. If yes press the button on the left and the display should show insert phone. Then do a bluetooth search with your phone.

I have buttons on my wheel yeah, but none with the symbol of a phone on like those in my van? I'm not too fussed as due to the noise from the exhaust it's unlikely anyone would hear me above 1000rpm :biggrin3: , it just seems a bit dated to think I can't make a call from my car.
I have stereo/volume buttons, mode, and a phone voice command button on the wheel - when I press this the hud states no phone/insert phone ?? (I'm not technology ignorant, but I would have thought I'd choose the phone using the sat nat, and select pair/search new device?) I'll press the button then search from my blackberry as you suggested, cheers.

Should I buy a dirty sd card off ebay at less than 2gb?

Thanks for the reply.

You use the mode button to select insert phone. Then do a bluetooth search with the phone. It should find the audi bluetooth. Then pair them up. My iphone 4s lists the phonebook on the dis but not on the rnse.

Yes the 2gb cards are the most popular. Also try to not have names or track titles too long. The rnse doesn't like them too long.

The rnse is the radio/sat nav unit. The dis is the display in the middle of the clocks.

I'm off to my driveway to play with the bluetooth. I don't suppose the audi supports bluetooth playback from the phone does it?

Not as far as I know. There might be a way of doing it but not with just the factory set up as it is. Do a search on here and see what you can find.

Bluetooth setup was easy ta.

Do you know if an additional adapter or roof ariel is need for the TV as I only pick-up static when trying to tune?

I think you need a digital conversion. Best speak to a local car audio Shop. They will be the best people to ask or have a look in the electrical section on here. I haven't got the tv module in mine. One of the few options I haven't got though.

I've just been reading through the search history and I came to the conclusion that the tuner must be in analog, duh, so it can't pick up a signal tht isn't broadcast. I had a look on ebay and it seems the digital tuner is around 500 nicker :-/
I wanted to see if it was like the tv in the bimmers where the driver see sat nav and my passenger could see the tv (and try not to get motion sickness, ha!)

Lol. Afaik the digi tuner won't plug and play in these. Nothing that clever on these either tech wise.

So I'd need to replace the whole unit ? What a surprise. I don't need a tv in my car, but I like the novelty factor, plus I repair things for a living so I like everything to work as it should so I'll probably spend some more cash I don't have.

Ebay uk item no: 200637295818

For an additional £109.90 I can watch my freeview tv whilst driving into moving traffic :jump:

The main unit looks quite good but the extra for tv on the move seems a bit expensive tbh.
