Hi folks,
just to clarify what I gather from reading this wonderfull site.
In order to use the B5 RS4 Front Calliper / discs on a B5 S4, I would need to go up to the 18" wheels as the standard 17" Avus alloys will not clear the larger callipers. Is this correct?

I'm 99.99% certain that is correct - 18" rims is a prerequisite. btw, there's a set of calipers / discs / pads for sale in the Classifieds - see post " Various RS4 B5 items for sale ". There may be some movement on price

RE: B5 RS4 Brakes on S4
Savage, I too am trying to find out exactly what 18"x8" wheel offset will clear my front porsche big break kit, I am pretty sure the wheels on my car previously were et45 18x8 RS4 replicas, currently I have 18x8.5's et35 with 5mm spacers on the front to clear my calipers, but the tyres rub on the wheel liners.
Want to get back to 18x8's to stop the rubbing and do away with spacer but cannot for the life of me get anyone with similar brake setup to confirm what will fit and what will not.
I live in Jersey and the wheel shops here are stealers, want to order online but it's risky unless I know the damn wheels will fit as I will probably be stuck with the wheels if they don't go on.
Any help appreciated.
Mike

You will need 18" to clear B5 calipers.
it is not the offset it is the inner clearance and design of the wheel that determines clearnace.
increasing offset is just the easiest way of moving central wheel material away from the caliper.
lots of porsche wheels have massive internal clearance.
When you look at them from above the spokes seem to be mounted to the hub much further outboard and often arc away from the mounting face to give clearance.
If you want OEM wheels to fit bigger calipers than stock without massive changes to offset your only option is to go with wheels designed for cars with bigger calipers as on the whle the wheel doesnt have any excess clearance.
I tried all manner of 8x18" rims from the A4 fitment range and none would clear my B7 brakes. even had some 8x18 OEM RS6 style 5 blade wheels in ET35 with 10mm spacers (effective ET of 25) and they fouled by a long way.
I now run 8.5x18 B7 wheels in ET24 with rolled arches and very slightly clipped liners....clears perfectly.
but let me know if you do find some 8x18's that fit and I will get some aswell!

Wierd things is the guy I bought my car off had 18x8's from AMD in Bicester that cleared the porsche brakes, unfortunately he had an accident (becuase AMD screwed the brake install up) and the wheels they sent down to replace his knackered ones were 18x8.5 et35 which needed a 5mm spacer to clear the caliper.
However he is pretty sure the original set AMD flogged him here 18x8.0 et45 and didn't require a spacer but the maths doesn't seem to work out......
I am so confused.....
Mike
Edit -both sets were rs4 b5 replicas.....
