Hi George.
What did you want to know? I have a toll tag I use every year to go to Provence.
Here's a link which will answer most topics, but if I can help.....

strewth iv just put a message on the parts forum to you.

are the direct debits they secure as iv been on their web site and im checking that im not going to get stitched up. Also on average if I only go to France twice how much a year do they take from your account ( not including tolls), do they take something every month.
cheers.

toll roads in france

The numbers referred to will need double checking for exchange rate, but:
1/ You pay a one off fee for the cost of the tag when you setup your account - 20 Euro (refundable) if you give the tag back; 10 Euro one off application fee,
2/ You then pay a fee for your account (yearly) - 6 Euro (£4.90) if you use it or not,
3/ When you go to France, you pay a 5 Euro fee for every month it's used (up to a maximum of 10 Euro). So use it for more than 2 months and it's no cost,
4/ The total set up cost are therefore 39.20 Euro (£32.30) £16 refundable if tag returned,

The DD mandates are set up with a UK based co (not Johnny Foreigner) so your OK. I've not had problems.

You will be billed for use the month after the one used; or go/come back Feb - pay end March. Invoice for payments taken are emailed also.

Use? Put the tag adjacent to your interior mirror. Drive into the designated toll lane at up to 30kph and hey-presto! Gunning the accelerator pedal is optional as you leave the toll booth (dynamic setting recommended the frenchies love it!)

As a general rule - go to the South of France (all tolls) £70 there £70 back. For me it's been a no brainer, even though I go once a year. Before I had one my credit card was scanned by a lovely looking French girl; they took £10k from my account by the time I got home!

Also takes the hassle out of having small change; booths on the wrong side and saves you loads of time on a long journey.

(Oh, and the tag is registered to you not the car, which is handy if you have more than one mode of transport, and batteries in the tag typically last several years. Tag sent back for replacements).

Another topic for another thread.....if you're going to speed in France make sure you've got a passenger who can drive and has their docs on them. If you're banned on the spot and fined, you'll be walking home!!

Cheers RivblueB8
that's what I was looking for, confidence in the system.

your last paragraph is a little bit of a worry though.

Cheers

Hmm, can only say I warned you in advance, but maybe I should have taken my own advice earlier. Still......banned in France (for only 240kph) it doesn't affect the UK (yet!). :bash:

I've seen your cycling video from last year (Mondeo wheel spins). If it's on hire - you would need half a dozen passengers G !?

It already smelt like someone had died in it before we even got out hands on it
The day we picked it up from Avis, the airbag light was on and none of the steering wheel controls worked
Hire cars are always the fastest cars and on the alpine passes, it's quite tough to get a 110bhp fwd diesel sideways with a handbrake button, but we managed :)
