Hmm, didn't realise these existed until I stumbled across one looking at S5s and 335is. Might be just the job.
Budget would only stretch to an early model though (2009/10) so what's best . . . manual or stronic ?
I want to avoid the £490 road tax but I think here are different emissions for manuals / stronics and saloons / avants.
Looks like it would either be a manual saloon, or an stronic in either body shell.
Seems the options to have are the diff, super sports seats (are these the recaro sports ?), B&O. Anything else ?
Running costs ? MPG especially. I do about 20k a year (work) so mostly decent spins out rather than stop start trips.
What's interior legroom like (I'm 6'4" and usually have car seats pretty much all the way back in their runners).
Cheers

Hmmmm, well, he is a high level beancounter and he's owned more Audis than you've had posts on this forum, I'd guess there might be some wisdom in his words.liffy99 wrote:Very helpful

Re: Thinking of an S4
Well, I'm part way doing a deal on an early S4 ('09 ex demo model).
Sports diff, Super Sports Seats / nappa leather, MMI and Sat Nav, ADS, sunroof, B&O and a few other bits. But boy' has finding out about these cars been difficult - even Audi (garage and Audi UK) have been giving conflicting information. Some comments / questions though ?
1) What audio system do I have. It has a DVD sat nav (DVD in boot), colour screen, 6 CD dash autochanger, and no SD slots I can see. No AMI. I''m guessing this is 2G and I'll be able to retrofit AMI (or similar) and hook up a USB SSD hard drive with lots of music on (and not be constrained by the 3Gs 4000 file limit).
2) The car had a major hiccup during its full Audi S/H - nearly £8k of engine work after what is listed on the history as a cracked piston bore. £8k - would this be a complete engine or short block ? It was replaced under warranty so I'm guessing the £8k was parts only. Should I be concerned or is this a bonus ?
3) Will probably look at a remap in due course. But why so expensive ? It cost £300 for my old TT but three or four times that for the S4 - are we just being ripped off ? In any case stage 1 or stage 2 (with pulley upgrade). I'm more interested in low/mid pull than top end power.
4) Service costs - what are they ? It's on the long life schedule and its been 14k since the last service at 29k (car now on 45k). Also front discs - costs and recommendations ?
Phew - a lot to try and pull together.

Re: Thinking of an S4
Whoa! 14k since last service, are you sure? 14k on the same oil, filters etc would be a walk away for me.

Re: Thinking of an S4
Up to 19k isn't it on long life service schedule ?
And modern fully synthetic oils are supposed to be good for at least this mileage aren't they ?
Not as if it's been on the track or anything . . .

Re: Thinking of an S4
Oh yeah, but we're all different. 14k doesn't grab me as a good example, I'd prefer 10k.
