Revised Spec?

Post by C2 VXT » Wed Jan 15, 2014 10:38 pm

I ordered the following RS4 in Sepang Blue a couple of weeks back for April delivery. The thing is I am having second thoughts on the spec (mainly surrounding the bucket seats). To negate the costs of the bucket seats I have omitted some of the non essential items ( in my view).

What does the team think?

Current Spec

Advanced key
Audi hill-hold assist
Convenience package
Heated front seats
Load-area fixing kit
Open Sky Panoramic sunroof
Door mirrors – electrically folding and auto dimming with memory function
Fine Nappa leather with RS embossing
Phone prep - High with Connect
Rear side airbags
Sports package
Storage package

Revised Spec

Audi hill-hold assist
Fullsize airbags
Heated front seats
Load-area fixing kit
Open Sky Panoramic sunroof
Deletion of ISOFIX child-seat preparation
Phone prep - High with Connect
Bang & Olufsen sound system
RS embossed bucket seats in Fine Nappa leather (lunar silver headliner)
Sports package

Regards

The switch to buckets only cost £1600 as you specd leather and heated

I can take or leave the buckets to be honest, and the wife definitely wouldn't abide them, especially on a long journey. Have you tried the buckets? Wife to consider?

As for the rest, horses for courses.

SuperSport are nice
But buckets are the real deal.

I had both in my RS 5, and made a huge difference from the 'feeling' of it being a fat GT car to a sports car.

Take or leave the buckets?! You're either old or fat :assflash:

You bought that RS 6 yet?

When the wife's paying and she's also driving it...... The state of the demo cars at the Millbrook day (Audi RS4 day in 2012) really put me off, cars with barely a couple k on the clock and the bolsters were mullered. And they'd be that much closer to the little feet in the back!

Spent the last two days honking my guts up. It will be the RS6, though. That's a job for next week.

I do agree with that, far more connected to the car with buckets, but for everyday mundane mile crunching I prefer SS.

I haven't tried the buckets yet, as the closest dealer to me that has an RS4 for sale with buckets is 50 mile away. Which other RS Audis have the exact same seats?

The wife's not bothered "you will buy what you want anyway" thankfully her derrière is still on the small side so comfort shouldn't be an issue. :jump_clap:

It's even cheaper than that, as you also can't specify the convenience pack / rear airbags / storage with the buckets. Take out the advanced key and it's only £460 difference

You're either bucket seat 'shaped' or not. I find then very comfortable and they fit the nature of the car. However, my wife always complains I have them too low and my elderly mother struggles to get out at times
As a benefit, the backs are plastic, so although closer to the rear seats, they're much easier to wipe kids muddy football boot marks etc from and almost certainly harder wearing that the leather rears of the SS seats
C2VXT, whereabouts are you ?

Gone - 11/06 B7 RS4 Avant - black/black (Daily drive & kids taxi)
Gone - 05/13 B8 RS4 Avant - Suzuka grey (Daily drive & kids taxi)

Gone - 09/14 B8 RS4 Avant - Misano Red/Ceramics (Daily drive & kids taxi)

Current - 04/18 B9 Rs4 Nardo Grey
ZX10R Race bike - 210bhp and a few skid marks on the seat ;)

I'm in Nottingham.

What airbag coverage do rear passengers have in the event of a collision with the buckets? As you are unable to specify rear air bags but you get full airbags. Do they just apply to the passenger and driver?

There should be no way they can hit the buckets.
Rear airbags are side only iirc

The SS seats are very good. I agree the buckets are more "sporty" but, as said already, as a daily driver the SS are probably more sensible and will wear better. I had to constantly "touch up" the leather on my B7's buckets as they looked knackered after 20k miles.

My RS 5 is a dailr drive and the buckets are also better for this. Just make sure you don't get in the car with the keys in your pocket as it can become annoying on a longer journey.
