horses for courses...the TTRS is easily faster than a B7 RS 4 on the public road, but I'd take an B7 over it everytime.

Having put 9,000 on an RS 3 it left me deeply dissapointed, yet I loved my RS 5 and when I had a B8 RS 4 for a week with buckets and ceramics it was just miles away from the RS 3, even if the '3 wins the traffic light GP
The only reason the TTRS feels like it struggles up top is because the stock map neuters the car, and dumps boost.

If tuned the 2.5T will shove like crazy right to redline. You can pick up 100+ tq and 100+hp with just a tune, that's how much is left on the table.

I certainly wouldn't want an RS3 instead of an RS4, because 90% of the time, it's a worse car. Rides worse, is smaller, sounds worse, looks worse, feels worse inside, front bias feels worse, etc. But when it comes to acceleration, if you take off Audi's restriction, the RS3 will absolutely FLY.

The RS3 to look at is the new RS3 sedan. That will be beautiful.

That RS3 of yours is a flying machine! The boost looks like a lot of fun and it's sounding good too. In my little V8's defence it's still all OEM.

What torques/horses have you got now? (I haven't been keeping up with the RS3 threads)

Please tell me you've taken of Audi's restriction PG!? I don't think I can take more of a beating!

TTRS did but Saki in his wisdom and seemingly extensive personal experience of driving one is specifically talking about the RS3

Ironically it could probably have done a little better but it was a warm-ish day and I was spinning all 4 (not just the front 2 :bigblink: ) wheels with my winter tyres on in 3rd, 4th and 5th with ESP flashing away, this mild winter thus far is making me think of putting my summers wheels back on. Let's have another go when I have my summer tyres back on Stu.

You did well to keep up then! I have found all the torques I have now are on regular occasion a bit too much for the winter tyres I have, may need bigger boots and a lighter lead foot!

My eyes work well so I don't need help on the looks of the RS3 vs the RS4, and I have driven loads of Haldex cars. I have also driven a 2.5t TTRS, so yes, all from personal experience. Further don't forget what continent I spent a month vacationing in last summer. Yours.

PS I'm in Canada

You're a sensitive Sheila aren't you.

Find me anyone on earth (other than sensitive girls who bought an RS3), who disagrees with me and thinks the RS3 is better at these 4 subjective categories that I mentioned. Go on.

RS4 vs RS3

Exterior looks
Interior
AWD feel
Engine/exhaust sound

Not sensitive at all Saki, just used to your unique brand of <beep> on subject matters than you cannot vouch for from personal experience which in fairness invariably causes inflammatory situations which in turn drags this forum down and on this occasion I wasn't going to let your brand of bollocks go unchecked. RS246.com used to be devoid of this, sadly elements like you (which is a pity because sometimes you do have useful contribution but in the main don't) have cheapened it and are the reason that for me personally, I don't post much on here anymore.

I respect HYFR for his comments on the '3 and any other owners to that end because he / they have driven one, all the other factors apart from style you cannot know what you are talking about because you've only ever seen pictures or what others have supposedly said. I couldn't care less what you think Saki and I'm certainly not losing sleep about having an RS3 rather than an RS4 in my garage. It does a better job than what two cars combined did for me hence why I chose it.

P_G, don't take others comments so personally as I don't think they weren't directed solely at you. Why is his "opinion" "bollocks"?. I (currently) have a TTRS and am labelled a gay hairdresser. It's no fun having your sexuality questioned and an assumption made of your profession based on what car you drive. As individuals we make individual decisions and if someone else disagrees with your decision, so what?. I think mostly they are probably lacking something in their life and feel compelled to try and make someone else feel as they do.

I personally like the looks and the engine of the RS3 (Wife has "boxy but good" S3) but it could have been a better overall package (yes, TTRS included)....much like the B8 RS4.....but people will still make the decision to go with what they want unless of course they listen to the "warriors" who have nothing better to do.

great banter on the RS3 vs RS4 debate...

just come back from a couple of days at Autosport so another nice long runout again and its defo growing on me....but....

the mid range torque is good but you have to wellie it to get it to go - so if you just squeeze gently it doesnt drop a gear, so you squeeze a bit more and it drops a gear but by that time the gap to over take has gone...fustrating..
Mmmm, so next time you flick down a gear and squeeze harder (fun) but then you end up breaking as you nearly go up the ass of the car in front..
7th gear is great for motorways as very long but mpg still avg at 25...over 2 tanks so not gaining anything over a "thirsty" B7..

reckon the drag run we did with P_G against a modded B7 will be different with a B8....as in the real world, in 7th gear and you boot the RS3, car has to spool up turbo, decide to drop a few gears and go - reckon new B8 "might" gain the advantage with the addition of the gearbox as no lag to worry about - only time will tell...
