Bought my RS4 in Sept, with a years warranty from Smith Knight Fay. Dumb question, but does this 'warranty' exist as a document ie Should I have been sent paperwork? Or is it just an agreement with the buyer and the dealer based on the date of purchase? In all my years of owning cars under warranty I've never actually ever had to even think about it.
I was interested to know exactly what's covered and what isn't?
Cheers

RE: Warranty
I never got anything on paper, but the service dept at my local knows the car and has all the warrentee details on computer, probably much the same for you. The warrantee covers everything except for items that are considered wear and tear, that list is growing by the day, but major items of engine, gearbox and drivetrain except clutch are covered (when my clutch went Audi did contribute towards the labour part by 50%) so are intrior trim excluding the worn carpet at the footrest.

Warranty
You should get a booklet and policy certificate from Mondial/Audi.
The warranty is very very good. I claimed on my S4 for a new ABS unit a few years ago with no hassles. I claimed a few weeks ago for a puncture (car carted off on low loader to garage!!!) with no hassles - and car currently having both Turbos replaced see below. The warranty also covers for anything that would mean an MOT failure and includes a hire car, recovery RAC etc. I'd recommend it to anyone.
BUT there is currently a big rpblem - since mid January they ahven't been able to issue Warranties as there isn't FSA approval somewhere. I tried to renew in mid Feb for my RS4 but couldn't. Audi are reviewing claims on a case by case basis providing you have tried to renew your warranty. This is lucky for me as a week or so outside of the warranty expiry I need the turbos replacing. I can only describe the warranty as cast iron.
