Dont mean to be a kill joy on this but there are a couple of things that are crossing my mind that should really to be taken into account with this new direction from Movit.DaveP wrote:Indeed the 6 pot billets are Movits own calipers, made in-house at the factory....the discs are their own design too, made for them by a supplier...
They also do their own design 4 pots now as well....monobloc ones...I don't know whether they still do any Brembo modified calipers.
Details here specify a 108sqcm pad surface area for the 6pots :- http://www.movit.de/images/fly04.pdf
With the original setup from them using modified brembo callipers and disks from the GT2/3, all the spares you will require can be ordered from any Porsche dealer or independant pad and disk supplier as they are off the shelve items and you will have a full range of pads from different manufacturers to choose from. Is this new design from Movit going to force you to have to return to Movit/QST for your consumables? Not that its too much of a major problem, it's just that it's always nice to have a choice in these things.
Also, I think you should all be aware that there has been passed discussions on here regarding wether it is advisable/safe to uprate the fronts to 6 pot's without uprating the rears. By doing this you may well upset the braking balance of the car, dont know, haven't been there, can't tell you, sorry! Robins probably the man to ask as he has played around with the brakes quite a bit on an rs4 (nordshclieffe (sp?)). 4 pot brembo is well proven with stock rears. However these new billet have a smaller surface area than the 6 pot brembo's.
Just a word of caution really, and as Simon says 'do you own research'.
