ANOTHER AUDI SPORT SHOWCASE EVENT!
Re: ANOTHER AUDI SPORT SHOWCASE EVENT!
Yeah my mailshot was from MK Audi, never set foot in the place, but part of the same group that look after my car. Imagine the groups will only have one HR dept, one payroll, one marketing dept etc etc between all the dealerships

Hi mate,Mid Glamorgan is home renting in central Bedfordshire and working in London...Ian_C wrote:What you doing over in Mid Glamorgan? You moved? Just clocked you are the same Malcolm who had the C5 RS6+ and recommended me Hitchin Audi - your location confused me! I was told the day starts 10:30am and I'm booked 10:45am S3 and 12 noon RS4, will stop for lunch with Audi, got the day off work. What you driving at the moment, an AMG?
Currently driving 2006 E63 AMG(the best example of this year I might hasten to add by a country mile)
Am booked in for 2 and 3 pm if memory serves me correctly at the showcase event....
Re: ANOTHER AUDI SPORT SHOWCASE EVENT!
Attended this at Elevetham Hotel this morning. Have to say a great time - very well organised and we were well looked after. Was given keys to RS6 and RS5 Cab and freedom to really try out the cars on the surrounding roads. The Verdict. LOVED the RS6 - really moves the game on terms of quality, refinement, sound, looks, luxury etc. The car handles much better as far as I could tell in the 40 minutes we had than the C6 I had, and was beautifully finished inside. Beautiful beautiful seats - felt at home right away. Loved the HU display, and love the colour of the car - I think it might be brilliant or Misano Red (not sure), but with the optics and the carbon and body coloured mirror it looked and felt a very special car....... Here is a pic of my mate with it
. Looked way better than the IBIS car and the matt Daytona car also there...
Also loved the true manual function on the ZF box - much hilarity as we bounced it off the limiter before realising that it wouldn't change up by itself in manual mode. Loved the farts on the upshifts - louder than in the C6. Think this car had DRC (felt like it) but not sure if it had the sports exhaust. Would be an awesome vehicle for cross continental Europe blats..
The RS5 Cab by comparison left me cold. The V8 really needs wringing above 5k rpm to get the best out of it. Really lacks torque low down and I missed that. S-tronic works well with the engine, but I can tell from the combo that I would not be a fan of the new RS4. Added to this the interior looks very dated now and just not special enough (too vanilla A5).
The RS6 will make a fabulous buy in 3-4 years time I feel.... can't wait

Will be there by 10:30am as I'm booked to drive the S3 at 10:45am and RS4 12 noon. I'll probably stick around for lumch - Malcolm I've just fired you a pm with my number in case you are there early.
Need to wash my car tomorrow morning before I set off. Audi confirmation email today offering 'mini valet' which I seriously do NOT fancy!!

Re: ANOTHER AUDI SPORT SHOWCASE EVENT!
Cheers for the pm Malcolm, see you tomorrow.
Cycled home from work about 7:30pm, thought it was remarkably warm, figured it would be significantly colder at 8am tomorrow morning, so washed the car!

Re: ANOTHER AUDI SPORT SHOWCASE EVENT!
Bumped into Captain Ric again today.
(that was me flashing you from the red RS4 as you were leaving in your RS6 in case you didn't spot the driver!)
Drove S3 and RS4 - thankfully in that order.
S3 quicker than I was expecting, undoubtedly on par with mine, probably quicker! Seems to go for a second wind about 4-4500 and then a soft limiter kicks in about 6500 before a 6800 max, peak power plateau from 5500-6800.
Demo car was an Estoril Sportback and surprisingly a manual - joyous!!! Good ratios, nice long sixth, taller than my S4. Pick up in sixth even from 50 mph was impressive. Plant your foot and 0.5 seconds later as the boost builds off she goes. Didn't like pulling away in second though - admittedly a lazy habit I've acquired with my V8. Today was hardly a fair test of mpg, you'd need to borrow one for 24 hours or a weekend to know what it does 'on a run' - although one guy on SRS is saying his has done 42 mpg long term average from new which is remarkable.
Very impressed, could definitely live with one of those day-to-day. I'm sure the 3dr handles even better - and gives better mpg - with its slightly shorter wheelbase and less mass (off top of my head Sportback is approx 40mm extra in the wheelbase and 40mm extra rear overhang)
RS4 was monstrous. The RS5 Cab I drove at Millbrook left me cold and confused. The RS4 today left me buzzing like a toddler on crack.
Was Misano plus privacy glass, matt aluminium, sport pack including dynamic steering, titanium 20" rotors and sport exhaust, heated buckets, pan roof, B&O, hill hold assist and tech pack advance including adaptive cruise. Quick run through the configurator, those options alone are 8,485 before the bits I missed.
The best option of all is standard - my word that quattro diff is just bonkers! Epic fun out of square second gear corners in these weather conditions - electronics left on I hasten to add! Gear selector left into manual and then toggled back into Sport. Left the suspension in Comfort, pulled over and had a look at the MMI and put the steering into Dynamic, but didn't like it so flicked it back to Comfort on the move. Sport exhaust with car in sport mode - I could do third second third second third second all day long without getting bored! Rode considerably better on 20s than the RS5 Cab did, but I still think 19s would do me. Love the buckets with the two switches for squab and bolster - plus you get full leather and heated fronts included in the price.
