Long Service - Advisories

Post by Markmyatt7 » Wed Nov 13, 2013 7:05 pm

Hi guys. Had a long life service today at Coventry Audi. Generally went well but too major advisories:

Suspension rods corroded - probably need doing by next service cost £900 including labour.

Brakes hoses corroded - need replacing by April or probably fail MOT cost £400 including labour.

My thoughts are that I want to get them done now.

Are the above quotes reasonable?

They did say as I've used then before to ring up and they'll see what discount they can afford me.

I have attached the advisory sheet fir your viewing.

It's the suspension pipes for the Drc it seems. At 900 sheets I'd be considering a set of kwv3 coilovers.
Rear brake hoses at 400 is a joke you can pick up a set of hel stainless braided lines for £55 and any decent Indy garage to fit should only take 100 at most

And this is why I love this forum. People on here know a hell of a lot more than the stealers. Thank you. Now I'm a biff when talking technical stuff - Kwv3 coilovers & hel stainless braided lines? Sorry if I seem a total beginner here?

Kwv3 are replacement suspension so you use the 900 Audi suggest you spend and put it towards a complete set of new suspensions shocks/springs as 900 will get you most of the way there & the Ausi solution leaves you with old suspension but new hoses.

Hel are a manufacturer of replacement brake hoses, they will be "braided steel" so shou;dn't perish like the Audi rubber ones so again you spend the money on something better - also try Loba & Goodridge for brake lines.

Maybe its just me but i dont see the need to massively over inflate basic maintainance costs by paying brain surgeon rates to change suspension arms or brake pipes,i had stainless upgraded ones fitted fluid change for half what theyve quoted.

Ah now that's interesting as I will be pushing 10k a year average. They did say the difference in servicing price wasn't that much. They did change the oil and brake fluid this service and the difference in breaking is very noticeable. For the better.

Fantastic. I've learnt so much since I got my B7 in February this year.

Are the Kwv3 easy to find - what I mean is there a specific place to buy from?

Today's servi ce cost me £533 including vat and servicing. Including oil and brake fluid change. Maybe I've been conned. I wanted to keep the FASH aspect of my car, maybe next time I'll go independent garage.

Kw v3's should be easy to find, I bought mine a few years back, think they cost me about £1500 maybe a little more, can't remember who i bought them from, I would break the long life servicing for sure, I do an oil change every 5k maybe call MRC and get a price or AMD or unit 20

Nice one. Will do some digging. Feel like I've been had by Audi.

Audi charge castrol out at double what its readily available at from various sources,i just dont like paying a 90 quid premium on 10 litres of oil for nothing ,and often you will get the same stuff out of a drum they put in 2.0 tdi's,sadly i learned all this the hard way even after strictly asking for castrol.
