Moving From RS4 to RS6

Post by drbru » Wed Nov 06, 2013 4:47 pm

As per my previous posts in the RS4 forum, I have been toying with the idea of selling my RS4 avant and getting an M5 touring however Im now a little put off with this idea and after having recently driven one, i think the gear box will drive me crazy

Im therefore going to hold out a little longer to get an RS6

I basically need something bigger that offers similar performance to the RS4. Ive been browsing the RS6 forum and it appears that there are no more major issues running an RS6 compared to the RS4 so i think as soon as the price drops close enough to 30k with mileage around 40k I will be on the hunt.

Hopefullly you will agree that this is a good move to make

One thing that does worry me a little is just how few examples are actually out there for sale...

Ideally I would want the following:

30k budget
around 40,000 miles
White or Greyish colour
Titanium alloys
Black Optics

However I have not been able to find any matches to this criteria since I started informally browsing 2 months ago!

You might have to wait a little longer and for a few more C7 RS6s to be delivered to bag a 40,000 mile C6 for 30k. Cannot be far away. :beerchug:

Must be possible now surely. I sold my RS6 in April for £31k with 39k on the clock - and it was white and had titanium alloys.

At the OP re desired speck - alloys can always be painted any colour you like, but finding optics will be tricky - very rare on non-plus models which will all still be way over £30k just because they are pluses...

Yeah optics is going to be a sticking point, so few have it

Audi have some optimistic prices at the moment. Jul 2008 with 64,776 miles for £36,970, I don't think so! Nothing below 30k and a surprising number with 50, 60 and 70k mileages. They have a Jan 2011 with 40k for £35k, I've never seen one as late as that, 2010s are rare enough.

Fontain have had a Daytona Avant with 40k for a month at 33k, maybe worth calling and stating your 30k budget and whether it would be worth coming down for a look, see how they react. If they say no, you could be cheeky and ask them to call you if they decide to reduce it in price.

C6 residuals are proving strong due to the superb reliability of the cars and the reputation of 700PS beasts.

I'll forget for a moment the 8mpg and the boat like handling.

I've not looked at the values since buying mine, until I was prompted to by this today and they have held up surprisingly well, being rare must help, only 6 saloons for sale on Autotrader, I love mine despite the 8MPG and size/weight, I had an A5 quattro S-Tronic loan car and it was nice to have something a bit more nimble, with some POWERR I expect I would have really loved it, DK's old yellow RS 5 with V Spokes and charged up, yum... :kissmyrings:

Sounds too good to be true doesn't it? Well it is. I phoned them up a few days ago and they informed me there was a mistake with the reg due to transfer from the previous owners cherished plate.

In fact its a 2008

£35,000
Registered Jan 2011
Registration YJ58YUT

Funny they haven't bothered changing the details. The dealer I spoke to didn't have a sodding clue what he was on about. He was trying to convince me that even though it's a 2008 it was factory spec with 3G MMI. No idea what the service history was either, he gave me three different cars history, none of them actually for the advertised car it transpired in the end. Don't go near it.

Ahhhh quality detective work PF.

Very odd. If the registration is YJ58YUT, how can it possibly be a 2011? A handful of late 2008 '58' registered cars that were delivered promptly after being built might have 3G but that one is 100% *NOT* 3G looking at the interior pics
