A couple of pics and a 'whats going on here?' question
Re: A couple of pics and a 'whats going on here?' question
Typical, its bloody bodywork as far as I'm concerned. So is a bumper not body work? Surely if the body is corroding because of a bit of trim attached we've got a case,
Re: A couple of pics and a 'whats going on here?' question
To clarify, the trim/strip is plastic.
It is backed with aluminium for rigidity?, then reinforced with a strip of steel.
Hence the common problem of rust pushing away the two metals.
It’s not a big job to do yourself (piece of p1ss to take the trim off).
As I mentioned elsewhere, it is a bonkers idea for any manufacturer to make a part like this, which will obviously be exposed to lots of water and fail.

Surely they've heard of electrolysis, metals don't mix alu and steel is the obvious one!

Surely not! Clearly you haven't heard about the oil cooler issues then?Sonnyjim wrote:Surely they've heard of electrolysis, metals don't mix alu and steel is the obvious one!

Lol yes their engineers could get a job with us offshore. Many brain cells but they don't seem to contract to each other.
Re: A couple of pics and a 'whats going on here?' question
Connect not contract
Re: A couple of pics and a 'whats going on here?' question
Hopefully they don't contract too many diseases. I know what you offshore fellas get up to on those rigs together!
Re: A couple of pics and a 'whats going on here?' question
It can be lonely at times, and as we seamen say 'any port in a storm!'
