Sorted, my 'amazing Spider-Man' fridge magnet stuck to the door skin. Tried it in several places just to make sure.

Hey Sonnyjim,

No need to remove the door card for the removal and replacement of the lower door trim.

There are two small screws on the inside of the door panel at the very bottom, one at the front of the door and one at the rear, (from what I can remember anyway) they screws hold the trim on in addition to 4 or so lugs positioned along the door at set intervals.

I had the same issue with one of mine, hardly noticeable but done my head in so I got a new one painted up and fitted!!!

Cheers tile driver, had a search on google but didnt find much on removing them. Noticed 1 screw at the rear of the door but then it was time to pick up the kids and dark was approaching.

Cheers for the colour comments, thought it would be far more 'marmite'. Must admit on paper it doesn't sound like a likely nice colour. But just pulled into the drive in the other car a while ago and it looks effing good when it sparkles.

The trim is plastic with a steel strip running through it

the steel strip rusts and expands and pushes the trim away from the bodywork making that gap you can see

some people have cleaned up the trim and with aid of glue and clamps refitted it but if you know a friendly bodyshop who wont charge the earth to paint the trim for you, you can just buy a new one and get it painted

there are two screws holding it on (one at each end) and then a few metal lugs attached to door skin which then slide into keyed locating slots on the trim itself. if you undo the screws the trim slides back towards the rear of the car and comes off

don't apply too much force tho as you can bend the lugs

Deep Green, Pearlescent. Lovely colour, and very nice to have something a little bit different IMO

+1 to corrosion of the steel insert within the lower door trim - careful overhaul & glue is the way forward, but new one might end up being needed if not successful

Cheers for the info willRS and dalo. Will remove tomorrow and have a look see what's best. I'm a fix it kind of person anyway. NOT in the Saville sense before the comments flood in.

Yeah from memory it is not covered by the anti-corrossion warranty as it is considered trim and not bodywork as it is the trim that is rusting not the door itself.
