RS4 Exhaust orginal vs romolus

Post by webchris » Wed Dec 08, 2004 2:30 pm

Hi,
i have the problem that my exhaust doesn`t look so good after a time.
so the exhaust covers (the poished one`s) look dirty and the begin to become dirty.the former car owner never polished them.
so my question is.can i change them or do i need a new exhaust?
when i need the new one can somebody tell me thomething about the romolus .because it cost me only arround 400 euros.
thanks a lot.
chris

p.s sorry for my poor writing..

Changing the tail pipes is a simple cut and weld job. Romulus appear to be Remus, never heard of an RS4 with one of their exhausts... Depends what it looks and performs like I suppose.

The tailpipes are a bit of a pig, I tried to get a new system under warranty as they were rusted and lookd crap. Got denied so went and bought a Milltek instead - this doesn't rust :D

Cheers

Ben

Milltek is a good option, or go totally custom. The romulus is a high grade version of remus that for the RS4 doesnt get imported to the UK due to lack pf demand.

Was going to say Anusol but that is for the Farmer Giles, :bash: Autosol, make sure the tail pipes are dry, polish it on and polish it off...........worked well on mine and they were rusty spots and black deposits, use it on chrome and comes up like new

I've used Astonish ( http://www.astonishcleaners.co.uk/ ) before. The abrasive paste works a treat but does dull the chrome a little.

They look like my F1s.

PS don't like the tail pipe.

PPS Certain grades of stainless will tarnish and appear to rust. Hopefully this is not the case with Milltech - anyone?

A common source of staining/rust from those that make custom exhausts is that they use the same grinding disks and wire brushes on the stainless as they do on carbon. This source of contamination is well known in the offshre industry.
