Re: True MPG figures....
According to the dash MPG reader, it's certainly better
I get 18-20ish pottering around town, 23ish at a steady 80-85mph motorway run (25+ at 70) and less than 15 if I'm nailing it
It's consistently 15% better than my B7 was at a guess. I;d suggest the Auto gearbox and it's longer final drive accounts for a good chunk of that

Re: True MPG figures....
RS3 is averaging 22 around town and only 25 on a steady run....was expecting more on a steady throttle and off boost.
What's fuel tank size and best fuel you can squeeze out f it..?
Drove mine like a wuss and managed 320 miles on 57ltrs and now averaging 275 per tank.

Re: True MPG figures....
I think the best I've seen is 330 from a tank, but that was ferrying my mid 70's parents up the motorway at a steady 65-70Revolution wrote:RS3 is averaging 22 around town and only 25 on a steady run....was expecting more on a steady throttle and off boost.

Was bloody boring, but averaged 28mpg or something like that
Not sure just how empty it was though
Normally around 270 light to light

Re: True MPG figures....
I'm telling you Glenn, you're driving that RS3 wrong! Seriously though I can only imagine it's because the engine and box are newish / tight. On the way home tonight on my A19 Teesside to Newcastle commute, steady 70+mph with a few torque fuelled rapid overtakes to get past the dawdlers and still managed 37.6mpg. 38.5mpg on the way down hill this morning.
The mpg your are getting is what I got in the first 5k miles of owning mine from new. Will probably get 400+ miles form this 60 litre tank of Nitro.

Driving wrong slowly...do you want to get married...LOL
When i drive fast like it should be driven and get 5mpg my wife says i'm driving it wrong also...

Its done 7k now and probably got plenty of time to loosen up but coming back from Combe the other weekend at 60-80 in bad rain taking 5.5hrs its still only returned 285 on a tank, yet my B7 was great on a run...wierd..
Drove down in 4hrs and trip said 25mpg and 250 on a tank.
Tend to leave it in D when in traffic anyway - maybe the remap helps on some cars but not at that stage yet as still working on the handling issues...

Re: True MPG figures....
I'm guessing though that the engine was replaced at 3k miles(?) and the box just recently and both times the learned values reset. When mine broke 10k miles it got noticeably more frugal and stronger much like the B7 did. I suspect another milestone on that front at about 20k miles and then 50k miles.

My b7 long term average is 20.5 miles per imperial gallon. That's over about 20,000 miles, probably 50/50 city highway, and I'm certain to see 8000 rpm on at least a couple of gears on just about every on ramp I encounter.
