Well I didn't expect that many people. I have received 30 emails. Just sorting out who's who.

Always a struggle to get people to commit, hence why we stopped organising meets.

Nothing quite like a cash payment to find out if they are serious. Paypal and "gifts to families" is your best bet.

Was thinking of launching the site paid membership and only letting those people attend. Donations happily accepted but don't want to force people's arms.

Gotta say it....Times have changed Phil.

The RR event today at AMD is testament to that. Amazing turnout full of cars in the crappest of weather to get there.

Then there was ADI before that, again great turnout and cars that should have meant we were the best standby miles but location was sadly lacking.

The appetite of the members is there in great strength.

"Build it and they will come".

personally id avoid paid membership for all, unless you want to kill off your membership.. But what you could have is a premium membership that gives extra benefits like posting new ads in for sale sections and puts you at the top of the list for limited persons events, stuff like that.

set the minimum donation for premium low enough and it could work, and if people want to give more then great. paypal can do all that.

I think dave meant the quality of the stand itself ...not the cars..I agree nick the quality of our cars was second to none at AITP..
Must agree with dave As well about recent meets we have a great bunch of forum members who if the meet is right make the effort to turn up in good numbers with quality cars..funny me and dave mentioned today that at one of the Kent meets last year we had 15/20 motors turn out in the snow..that is just for a chat and a bite to eat on a Sunday lunchtime..long may it continue.. :beerchug:

I agree, there's a lot of new blood on here with recently acquired cars, hungry to meets their owners. I think mayb a year or 2 ago we had a lot of long time owners coming to the end of their ownership so meetings didn't have the same level of interes they did previously, but that's changed now with this new breed!

I am "new blood" and coming from a very meet orientated group of model specific car owners I would be happy to pay a fee, but I think that the group would grow if there was no fee and meetings organised on a regular basis... I went all the way to Castle Coombe to meet people and ended up spending hours talking to people I had never meet before.

A little bit more notice next time please MrT! We could do with trying to organise an RS246 event that everyone can attend.
previous- Pug 205 gti, 306 gti, 309 gti Goodwood.
Audi S3, S4 V8 avant.
Porsche Macan Turbo.
Gone but NEVER forgotten - C5 RS6 Misano red avant.

Now - Empty garage

If you don't know where you're going, any road will take you there!
