Re: Dodgy Rear End issue.....
Ive got the parts about £500 and bodyshop is gonna spend the day pulling and twisting her
Basically torturing her :'( I didn't ask how much but as said a days labour and paint. Got the sodding skirts off today so just gotta slap the new standard cat back on (unless manifolds, down pipes or cats are bent). I'll know when I try to put it on.
I wonder is anyone knows if the mesh/metal strand part near the cat is spost to flex/bend? I'll be ok I think if it does.
Pics tomorrow of her in bits.....
Thanks for the words of encouragement even though some of you said cut your losses. Even though you may disagree with my choice to repair her you're still being positive, thanks all

Glad to hear that the car is on the mend, if you are keeping the car a while (for ever!) then resale value will never be an issue. Plus somethings you just cannot put a price on, having your own car back that you know so well is one of them.
The mesh metal section is the flexi-joint and is supposed to move.
How much are they charging you to paint the rear? I only ask as my one needs a bit of work and would be good to get a rough idea of pricing.

I'm not sure but will try to find out today. It's having part of the boot lid, all the under bumper back panel and the bumper done. Prolly blow in to the rear wings too to blend in.

That’s it exactly, people were thinking more with their head about the situation and giving an honest opinion. I said the same thing, but if it was my pride and joy id prob follow your footsteps.coffey555 wrote:Glad to hear that the car is on the mend, if you are keeping the car a while (for ever!) then resale value will never be an issue. At the end of the day, if shes saved and your happy that’s the main thing!
Looking forward to the final pic

how are they going to sort out that really badly crumpled bit inside the boot as I assume you can't easily straighten that out ? will they cut it out and reweld new material in or what ?

They said they're gonna spend a day pulling and reshaping. I guess with the correct skills this can be done. The inner and outer rear panels are being replaced.

Is that the Volvo driver in bubble wrap in your boot?

Coming along nicely Mark, will be worth all the time and effort when she is done. Then you can give her a new detail!!
Have the alloys been refurbed? They look in really decent condition.
Keep going mate, almost at the finish line.

I did try to just let her get away with what she and her car did to my Ruby but old habits die hard (bit like her lol)MikeFish wrote:Is that the Volvo driver in bubble wrap in your boot?
Yeah, she's ready to go to the body shop now, booked in for week on Monday

Also got quote on labour. £800-1,000!

Re: Dodgy Rear End issue.....
I just dropped of the new parking sensors and see the progress since yesterday. All the floor is back how it should be, new panels tack welded in place and just the smallest amount of filler used. He also says I'll have car back on Friday

Re: Dodgy Rear End issue.....
It'd be interesting to find out how much your rear wheels are out when you get the tracking done...
No matter where you go, there you are.

Re: Dodgy Rear End issue.....
Indeed. On the surface it appears only the last 18" of the car deformed. Will know better when I get her to AMD.
