To skim or not to skim

Post by guy » Sun Oct 06, 2013 11:51 am

Well what are people's thoughts??

My discs are b7 fronts and the pads are oem and are needing changed.

I have some ferodo premier pads to go on and I've measured the thickness left on the discs with a vernier.

Now I think the discs are 34 mm new and min manufacture thickness is 32mm mine are 32.48 and 32.24 at the mo.

I don't want to shell out for new b7 discs nor the vw phaeton ones if I don't have to.

Skimming, when done correctly seems to be worth while!

What are people's thoughts???

I should add, the discs were bought second hand, nearly new and I've put approx 25k miles on them.

I would get them skimmed. If done properly they should be fine. Think a couple of guys have had theirs skimmed.
