I realise this has been done before, but i can't find an answer/tutorial as to how exactly you remove the factory fitted phone cradle.
I just want the phone cradle gone, i can makeshift something to cover the holes in the console until i grab a new one, do you have to have the RNS out? Any way to do this without the removal keys?
Thanks

For the cost/time involved mate - you might as well just get a new centre console installed - they are not expensive and AFAIK all standard across the A4 range. I had my old one swapped out and a new one fitted for about £90
Re: Removing Phone Cradle
The ones one ebay are a bit scruffy. Could anyone do me a big favour and hunt out the part number?
I remember the last time I thought about doing this neither TPS or the dealership could figure out how to order it!

Ok! Might look into that, as I understand it though, to get the phone cradle out all you have to do is get the radio out and access a couple of screws? Sounds like a 15 minute job?
Anyone know of a tutorial around?

I have not seen one. I had mine done whilst I had the RNS-E upgraded and a AMI installed - the whole lot took about an hour by the legend that is craig from tcl sat nav.Jaheenormous wrote:Anyone know of a tutorial around?
Re: Removing Phone Cradle
You can remove the cradle from the centre console without touching the radio but you will be left with 2 square (ish) holes.
I did mine over a year ago so I can't remember the precise details but I think there are 2 torx screws to remove which releases the cradle and then a couple of connectors to unplug. One of the connectors was too large to feed back through the square (ish) hole so I disassembled the connector and then poked the cable through the hole.
Currently I have some black vinyl tape covering the holes and it actually looks pretty neat, but I would like to replace the console with a new one so if anyone knows the part number please post it up
