Cannot view that pdf download at work but I'm guessing its pricey!

You seen DKs post the other day in a different thread about genuine Recaros new from Germany?

http://forum.rs246.com/viewtopic.php?f= ... 6&start=45

I replaced my gear shifter with a new one due to the chrome ring on the top of the gear knob being worn away on one side, I have no use for the original, would it be of any assistance to get you moving again as a temporary measure Ben?

It's bonkers isn't it - now the insurance co have the 'official' repair costs you'd think you'd be able to say 'look - we both know this is crazy. Let me source the seats, agree a sensible figure and then settle that without writing the car off'
Saves insurance co money, saves you the hassle of selling a written off car and you get to keep it.

But that is apparently far too sensible

Might be a personality flaw of mine but I tend to assume that not everyone is an idiot and certainly that big businesses are in it to return profit and not to do the consumer a favour.

On that basis it's probably sensible to assume that something else is going on here, such as...

The Cost involved to verify 2nd hand parts are fit for purpose
Subsequent insurance policies with 2nd hand parts / mods / whatever
Administration etc etc

There will be a process, that process involves new parts, it's not insurance co's fault that Audi charge a ridiculous figure for these seats.

Anyone on the forums work in the insurance industry? Would be interested to get a view from an insider...

Totally agree. Any body or interior trim damage? Or just a 'clean' removal of seats, wheel and gearstick? I'd want to do everything I could do save the car being written off!

Hi all

Latest is news is that the car has been authourised for repair!! i had literally written off this possibility- maybe someone from admiral read this thread, i know they all have different policies??

This has come from the workshop so not confirmed yet, will keep you updated.

Now i need to try and make sure they DONT put bucket seats back in or ill be going through all this sh1t again in 2 months time!!

Do the thieving scum steal the RS4 comfort seats also, or just the buckets?

Cheers

The comfort seats probably don't fit as well in A3's or Golfs! Dont see many of them on Ebay anyway...!

Great news.

Personally I'd just let the insurance company press on and fix your car back to 'factory'. In the meantime, source some additional front Comfort Recaros yourself, swap them when you get the car back and sell the buckets separately through the forums. You have proof they are genuine not stolen!

Will help cover your increased insurance premiums, every cloud has a silver lining and all that..........

Hello, im a new user, and sadly have to report yet another incident of this! 2 weeks ago, my low mileage 2007 RS4 had its passenger window smashed right outside my house in SW London, under my bedroom window where i was asleep and both front seats stolen without getting the doors open or setting the alarm off! Having read through this forum i too am facing the same standoff between my insurance company who want to write the car off and my local Audi who want £19k to replace the seats! If anyone could give me a name of someone high up in Admiral and Audi Customer Services i'd be very grateful, also any other advice/tips much appreciated otherwise yet another example of this brilliant car is sadly going to be written off. :(

Give Harwoods Audi at 5 Oaks a call on 01403 787000, ask to speak with Daniel Parsons in the Service Dept. He has recently worked with a customer to get replacement seats sorted, in doing so he liaised with Audi GB to discount the parts and got the workshop to discount the labour rate, the insurance company then agreed to not write the car off. I think the bill came down to about 14k from the conversation I had with him.

Have a look at this thread - a guy is saying he picked up seats direct from Recaro for £3k on pg. 4.
