BEWARE M4 TOLLS - NICKED UNDER 70mph

Post by Diesel » Fri Nov 26, 2004 11:45 pm

Just opened my NIP...

CANT F'IN BELIEVE I'M GOING TO BE DONE - AND THAT FOR DOING LESS THAN 70 ON A BLOODY 3 LANE MOTORWAY THAT WAS BARREN OF CARS. I actually also failed to plough through the toll booths and managed to stop in time and pay using solely the power of my BRAIN - as I have done on the Severn tolls for the past 20years...

I'm incensed - particularly as that was the first day I had my new Road Angel, but they hadnt given me the 'key' to update its memory by download.

I got done going West. Are there cameras in the gantry there or something?

If I was hammering it up there I wouldnt mind, but I SO wasnt. *BEWARE GUYS*

D

I've read a bit more and the cops say its a reaction to people storming towards the toll booths at a 100 fumbling for change... Well that certainly wasnt me - but there you are what the F does that matter; I was clearly a dangerous liability at 65. They must be RAKING it in with these ones.

The whole of the south wales M4 corridor is blighted by the mobile vans on bridges......Fine when its dark though, only the static one at Port Talbot to worry about.

Check out the fight back forum here before you send back the NIP.

Good luck
Karl (clean licence for the last 19 years and plenty of NIPs in my draw :D )

North Wales is far worse.....
Dont even think to take a sports motorcycle up there. Last time I ventured "up north" on the Ducati, stopped three times in one day and picked up one fixed penalty for my exhaust and three "produce your docs".
The Welsh media and tourism bosses are slating the "safety camera" partnership as many visitors are geting nicked and not coming back...!

You could also try the ABD. Assosiation of British Drivers: http://www.abd.org.uk/
They also agree that this particular limit was solely to produce revenue. :assflash: :<beep>_you:

Thanks chaps. Might have a go at fighting this one with the 'I'll admit it but you ant use my admittance against me in court as forcing me to admit it is against my civil liberties' approach (snappy ehh)

If it was a 'hands up I was out of order' one I'd take it like a man mind.

More research...

Always worth writing to the issuing authority and asking them why this area requires this limit, etc. If everybody who got a ticket did this, it would clag up the system and bring it to a grinding halt.
