I'm sure there's a logical reason, but why would you want to do that? Unless it's a fine tuning thing to use inbetween the different coloured spings.

Yep, I think thats the point....I suppose a tuner could work out the optimum spring rate with a bit of time spent logging etc...

...which is exactly what I didn't want to do

They'll be put in as they came out the box.

Cheers

Well they're in and they seem pretty good. The old DV's must have been knackered as the Forge items are so much quieter. I reckon the Bosch ones must have been leaking all over the place as the car was going like the clappers today - whereas it has not felt 100% for months.

Top marks to Mr Forge.

Glad it did the trick Ben....I've not touched mine since they went in, so you shouldn't have the need to get your hands dirty :D

What makes you think there is no spring in the DVR?

To answer your next question: Yes, I do.

The diaphram is the spring...

Hi Phil,

Ever opened a DVR? :)

What would make that floppy diaphram wrapped around the plastic cap (that the spring fits into the back of....) return to the closed position if there was no spring?

Hey Clive, good point, although the last time I saw Phil open a DV himself the spring hit him in the eye, so maybe it's sub-concious and he chooses to ignore there is a spring in there :D

Well, obviously my memory isn't what it was.... I was pretty sure that the diaphram was deformed by the vacumn, and then it returned to it's original position due to the fact that it is made of rubber. My judgement may have been clouded by other issues at the time, such as "I wonder where the rest of the disintegrated diaphram is !?!?"

lol Phil - I know exactly what you mean.

If you still really aren't convinced, it just so happens that I have 2 DVR's one on the car, and one not, so I *could* take a photo for you..... but I rather wouldn't!

I'll believe you.... If you know what I mean, why are you still running a DVR? What engine/boost are you running?

Clive, you're technically correct about the spring, but I think the point is that the DVR doesn't have the mass of pistons to move when on/off boost, therefore the spring rate *should* be less of an issue.

Nige.
