The car is taking a bit longer as the speed sensor failed when they went to fire up the new exhaust (talk about bad luck). So now the car is down getting the cc done and the tune will be completed tomorrow. Hope to have the car back in my possession late tomorrow night.

A few pics of the carbon, can't believe how bad it already is since its only been about 15k miles...

Can't see how that's essential - but then again I am far from understanding the gas dynamics of a NA V8 exhaust mate.

an x pipe scavenges gas from each side and vice versa to pull the gas through the exhaust and out, the ones above dont look like they have a join between the two if there is it doesnt seem to be very big.

someone will be able to explain it better than me but basically rather than having a separate pipe for each bank they are crossed over slightly with an x pipe.
after combustion a pulse of exhaust gas travel down your exhaust from each cylinder when a pulse from bank one gets to the x pipe the pulse from bank two is slightly behind it on the opposite side of the x pipe, the pulse from bank one causes a pressure difference or something like that and pulls the pulse from bank two and then pulse two pulls pulse three and so on.
you get a scavenging affect that increases efficiency.
that description is probs wrong lol but some vodoo happens and its good

Yes an effectively designed xpipe (like the one on your car sar) , along with a well designed manifold, downpipe and catback works so well at evacuating exhaust it also effectively helps draw air into the intake side.

Saki have you fitted your JHM set up yet?

Do they sell an X pipe sepertely to fit in with OEM set up?
DK was saying that an x-pipe set up on the RS5 made a big difference in sound and you get to keep valves should u like to quieten down when needed

OEM already has this arrangement, the centre resonator joins the 2 banks together.

Anyway if you're getting a fully custom 2.75" stainless setup made with 2.75 " Downpipes, quality cats, quality mufflers and great looking tips, designed using the facilities at Ford SVT and Roush, all for £1800, that's great. If not I am not sure which of those things I would want to sacrifice. The quality stainless... The design... The sound... The 2.75" diameter... All of those are must haves in my mind.

I do like how you guys price tax into everything on the tag. Here we buy a TV for $1800 but when you take it to the register to pay for it, the total is $2034 (there's 13% sales tax added at point of sale) .
