Apparently it's a bit of an arse, but possible.

I've got a pair sitting here, but thankfully Audi are putting mine in instead of OEM replacements, when it goes in for it's service in a couple of weeks.

When do these need changing ? Mileage related or time related ? Are they normally been done as part of the MTM map ? I'm still awaiting the invoice from Kim as to what exactly was done to mine

Cheers

My dealer said every 20k, so depends if you're on Longlife or FIxed servicing, but at least every 2 years I'd expect.

I'm assuming the ITG, MRC, MTM ones just need cleaning and oiling as part of a service rather than replacing.

My dealer won't fit them as they aren't OEM?

Thanks.

Itg purchased

Well that was a lot easier than I thought it was going to be :) Had been putting this off for ages as I thought it was going to be a real pig of a job but with following this great guide, thanks Luffenham1, it was quick and straightforward. No swearing or blood escaping during the process!

I will be giving my one's a clean once I receive the ITG cleaning kit. Doug recommended that they are cleaned once a year regardless of mileage.

Cleaned mine out today and was shocked in the amount of crap ( semi hard oil residual with grime deposits) inside the air box walls. New filters are oiled from factory for extreme conditions usage like rallying etc so I've bought their cleanser and JDR-2 (dust prevention coating) which is only slightly oily and it sprays out in white colour until you massage it in.

I swear the car now sounds slightly different with a meatier noise so I guessed the oil which was in the filters has turned slightly thicker from use hence restricting airflow.

I highly recommend you cleaning the filters and the inside of the air boxes if you are using the MRC filters.

Job well done to me. :bigblink:

Been out for a drive this evening with the roads a bit emptier, the car pulled much stronger especially on full boost so happy days. :jump_clap:
