Do MRC do a launch control map for the B7?

Re: Do MRC do a launch control map for the B7?
Good question....JHM were working on one with their charger i heard
Re: Do MRC do a launch control map for the B7?
Yeah JHM have had one out for a while now from what I understand. That's on a non SC car too.

LC for normally aspirated?
I suppose we could do that - but you don't build boost and launch on boost like the turbo cars - it is basically then only a rev limiter instead of you holding it at whatever revs you want to launch at

Cheers for clearing that up for me Doug

The launch control on the 211 works in a similar way. You set the rpm you want to launch at (7k in that car in the dry on semi slicks, 4k in the wet) then start the car.
it'll cut fuel to hold the rpm so it really sounds like a bag of spanners going round behind your head. You side step the clutch as it has an internal regulator in the clutch hydraulics to control the engagement speed to protect the drivetrain. The ECU then simply restricts the engine rpm to the limit you specified only until the front wheels measure a road speed of only 8mph and then the conventional traction control takes over.

So picking the launch rpm is a bit hit and miss - in that car you want enough to break the rear traction (which is hard with sticky track tyres) but not enough that it wheel spins anyway. With 7k the initial "bite" drops the revs down a fair whack, it'll then bite, slip and bite again but then the TC does a great job of holding it once the first 10mph is hit.
It'd be interesting to see how it would work with all 4 driven wheels as the ecu wouldn't have a speed input (unless it uses the gps feed I guess). As such I'd imagine you would simply tie it into the clutch switch and/or speed and pick a launch rpm that doesn't cause too much initial wheel spin. So it'd turn off the launch control as soon as the car is moving or the clutch engaged.

Don't they just do Revo maps though (ie not completely custom like MRC) ?Seventynine wrote:The Phirm do this, heard good things
