Want to order but....DRC?
Hi all. Been a while since I posted here as I sold my last audi (B8 S4 - awesome car, B7 RS4 prior to that) around a year ago. I currently have a Nissan GT-R, Mazda 6 MPS and a Freelander 2. The GT-R is getting a bit small for my kids (nearly 4 and 2 years old) and I am being "encouraged" by the other half to change to a more practical car. Not being one to compromise on toys/fun, the C7 looks good.
The only thing putting me off is the DRC suspension which I read it has. I remember how much of a nightmare this was on the B7 RS4 and Audi never sorted it. Does the C7 really have the same suspension?

DRC is the option, air as standard.
No problem with DRC to speak on the C6, so I don't see an issue.
Get ready for a shock when you spec one though!

That is reassuring thanks guys. So the B7 DRC was flawed?
Air suspension I know nothing about. It just conjures up images of citroens. Comfortable but not sure how it fits on a fast avant.

Seriousky though, a lot of the reviews of the C7 say that it is quite good dynamically.
Also if DRC goes then you will have a warranty to sort it and it appears you aren't short of a car if one went in!

I ordered mine with the sport pack which raises the top speed but automatically swaps out the DRC air suspension to standard shocks/springs.
If you intend in raising the top speed, the DRC is deleted for normal springs etc

Not quite. If you take the dynamic pack you get regular springs but with DRC shocks. The standard air sus is adjustable but doesn't have DRC.

Thanks for clarifying that doodlebug, you've highlighted how little my dealer actually knows!! This is my first RS of any sort so have I made an error in what I've ordered??(I still have a few days to amend spec)doodlebug wrote:Not quite. Personally, no, I would also opt for the DRC.
However, until there are some cars to drive with both setups it is an unknown.
If you're after armchair comfort to waft around the countryside then standard suspension is the way to go. If you want a stiffer setup then DRC is the way to go. Not to say DRC won't be comfortable. If your taking the standard 20s then you have a reasonable compromise IMO. Those 21a are mega low profile!
However, until there are some cars to drive with both setups it is an unknown.

I THEN RUN A C6 RS6 WITH DRC ON STD 20" WHEELS AND 35 PROFILE TYRES, BEFORE CHANGING TO 22" WHEELS AND 25 PROFILE TYRES

I followed a Bentley Continental GT onto the tunnel coming home from Le Mans and it scraped the left wheels down the side when driving onto the train
