Made to order part and will take around 8 weeks to get here. I am estimating about 4-5k on the work perfecting this car on its current power configuration so that is quite a chunk to add on really. Will have a think.

Wheels are done, perhaps a touch lighter than I was thinking but I did ask them to lighten them so..... Wasn't actually aware that the powder coating process could actually weaken/alter the metal structure of the rims due to the cooking at 400f but heyho.
New centre caps were ordered by the boss to be a better match for them he says but I will get the black ones off him too. £998 paid fos the rims done to my colour, the new Eagles and he has also included new wheel nuts and security keys, didn't have the heart to tell him that I had just bought the top of the range full STI Mcgard set at stupid money:
Driving to Ruislip to pick up tomorrow, then across to Newbury to fit them and bring back the old ones so I can get the old girl off stands and down to the scrapyard soonish.

Nah, there'll be no weaking at those kind of temperatures. For any annealing to occur then you'd have to go past the metal's glass transition temperature which for a low-melt temp aluminium alloy would be at least 300°C which is more like 600°F.

Thanks. I was only going on the Scoobnerd discussion on it after a guy cracked 2 spokes on a trackday alloy shortly after having them redone with powercoat.They were saying that the 400f (can't do that little fecking degree symbol and google is one click too far for me
) heat treatment can affect the metal, depending more on how it was cast/forged etc. Just thought I would mention it is all.

Bah, not liking the wheels. Just got back from a 4 hour round trip sorting them out. I originally asked for a shade lighter than Hyperblack and done deal. Confirmed this via email too. Tyre place emailed me on Wednesday to say they were in and the lightest shade they could do, alarm bells rang. Rang louder when I saw the photo yesterday but put that down to Piephone quality camera antics.
Got there today and shocker, they were too light. Put it down to one of those things, drove them to Newbury and had a brilliant bit of fun with a 2013 C63 AMG along the route. Fitted them to the car myself in the workshop and didn't like the end result. 18x8.5 is too skinny, 18x9.5 is too fat, so it is going to be 18x9 then, back to the drawing board. Had I not screwed up and left all the wheel tools out of the car (due to the rusty as hell water-filled boot) in the first place, I wouldn't be in this situation, feel free to laugh at my (continued) idiocy

The suspension hasn't been raised/geomerty altered yet but I am pretty sure that will make them look worse. I might just sell the set as is and start again, with 18x9 and 245 width tyres too for good measure but I reckon they are going to scrub without running silly amounts of camber again. C'est la vie. Sooo tempted to say to hell with the cost and just get another set of Superturismos for this rice bucket, sorry, rocket

Simple answer, because the STI is a backroad weapon/capable of chucking on a Trackday and if it explodes I won't overly care in comparison to the 6. God, I have got to get those rear brembos painted red...

Clutch expected in on 17th.
Multiple oil leaks found on the engine, one of which they state isn't serious at all but I don't like any oil leaking, seals are there for a reason.. Have asked them to sort everything they can.
Rear diff weeping slightly. They don't seem overly concerned but have instructed them to sort it.
They cannot fit a recirc BOV back in to the system based on the current pipework from the FMIC so I will sort this when I get back but the FAKE HKS BOV that is on is being replaced with another Turbosmart unit as I know and trust those.
Inlet manifold spacers and header tank spacers going in on the 12th.
Map being tweaked/checked over on 16th but have told them no it won't if they haven't got the replacement BOV in by then, not having it checked over/mapped on that fake, possibly leaky POS valve.
Rear wash spray, ride height, geometry, ball joint and possible replacement oil catch can being done on 18th/19th.
Tarty SS engine bolt kit/red anodized washers ordered since the engine bay doesn't look too bad, Alloy oil cap and proper 'i' front badge on their way.
Still not liking how those wheels look/sit so soon as the car is ready, I am picking her up and dropping her off at Platinum Wheels in Swindon to strip those rims down and match them to the Matt Graphite OZ finish on the 6 as closely as possible and will go from there... If I still don't like the end wheel setup, will sell those and bit the bullet on a set of Ultraleggeras I think.
Trying to do a deal on a jet black WR1 full interior and black carpet to de-chav the interior quite significantly, the chap wants silly money though.....
I was thinking again this week "what the hell have I done buying another car" but, after madam almost lost a wheel on the S3 due to not noticing it loosing off the fricking hub, I have been driving that to destruction around the local country lanes/singletracks trying to break the wheel loose again.
Driving that like a hooligan and having a hoot reminded me why again, when set up properly, the Scoob will be an utter backroad weapon like the S3 is very capable at, only far more focused and I will be able to track it if you girls ever decide to have some group track affair.....

Forgot, managed to find a very nice person with an original Do-Luck "ducktail" bootlid and arranged for a well known Scooby fibreglass/carbon fibre parts moulder to borrow the lid off him to clone. He has almost finished the moulds and I am on the list for one. If it looks fail then will sell it on. What I cannot decide on with absolute certainly whether or not to get a plain FB one and have it painted black or to be a little BECAUSE race car and go for the carbon.
I could always have the carbon one sanded and painted but the lid will be over £200 as is for the carbon, what the price of the respray is for the FG one.... I am 95% on the side of FG painted to match.

xxSo, carbon and chav it properly or matched black? Still think I am doing the right thing with the boot? Not 100% sure as car will be riding a little higher than the one in the pics.

Mr Foot long, you mentined possible rubbing...? If you dont have one I've got a pro wheel arch rolling kit you can borrow as your not a million miles from me. Just an offer if needed. Did my front arches perfectly with it BTW.
