UK - average build time for an RS5 at the moment?
UK - average build time for an RS5 at the moment?
Going back from my R8 to an RS5 Cab and wanting to spec a new one, in a custom colour - Sepang Blue.
Does anyone know the likley build/delivery time at the moment for a UK RS5 car? My dealer thinks up to 6 months, but that can't be right. I will get a definite timeframe when I order next week, but wondered if anyone before then, had an idea.
Thanks

Why the change buddy?
Re: UK - average build time for an RS5 at the moment?
I'd say six months is right. Exclusive anything will add to the wait.
Re: UK - average build time for an RS5 at the moment?
I just don't get to drive the R8 much. I lovingly look at it on the drive as we as a family head off everywhere in the Q7.Noyjatat wrote:Why the change buddy?
I do commute in the R8 and leave it at my local train station, so I at least get to drive it every day. Slightly flash, as a bright white limited edition V8. Kinda stands out, but I love it.
Will miss the R8, but used to have an RS5 and tried the RS5 Cab out last weekend and loved it.

Is sepang not a std option on the 5 then?
What is the blue?

Re: UK - average build time for an RS5 at the moment?
Stepping out of my R8 and into the RS5 was not an easy thing to do. My first driving impression was the same as when I handed back the R8 Audi lent me when they first came out and getting into my new RS6 Avant - disappointment re the feel and ride.
The thing is, my brief has changed and I realised that living in London I got to really drive the R8 only a few times a year and most of my driving is in a straightish line and in a traffic jam.
I have had the cab for over two weeks and have grown to really like it. I am surprised at the number of people who come up and compliment the car. It is aesthetically stunning and more of a graceful understatement than my beloved R8 V10.
The ride is fine for a sports saloon, yes it is not as intimate with the road as an M3 but I would trade that small differential, for a stunning looking car.
Performance is surprisingly good, I didn't expect it to go quite as quickly, although I haven't really spanked it on corners yet. The sound is superb, having said that, I've already started to stalk after market exhaust sites.
I don't like the way Audi have gone for hi revs for performance over torque, I was always a Ducati man over the hi reving rice burners (I know this has changed now and the Japs have great torque and hi revs) I expected more torque and bottom end performance. Having said that the engine does sound gorgeous.
The brakes are spongey compared to my R8 ceramics, I regret not having ceramics on the RS5.
My quality of life has improved in that my wife and children love riding in the car with the roof down - we got caught the other day in another jam and just reclined the seats upped the volume on the sound system and sat in the sun so the impending divorce has now made a hasty retreat.
Overall - I have made exactly the right purchase decision. The car makes me smile and I can't wait to drive it. The quality of finish is exemplary and I can feel the expertise in building hyper quality vehicles like Bentleys and Lambos and Bugattis is being channeled down the line to top end Audis.
Have to be brief got to rush out the door and cycle to work!
