Sorry to hear about this.
How long do you think it was between being stolen, then sprayed, then found again?

Oh and the one distinguishing mark you failed to mention was the broken armrest-latch
Gutted for you. But at least being written-off you don't have to drive it again after the scumbags have.

"Trackers" are always fited in known placed and can be easily found and/or defeated by professionals - they are a complete waste of money IMHO.

Not always ;)
We have self contained units that don't need any connection to the car so can put them anywhere (and IP66 rated so dont have to be inside either). Last about 5-7 years.

But yes - agree in principle. 99% fitted in the same place.

I was told by tracker that as soon as they park in an undergound car park or container, as it is based on GPS, it cannot detect signal. There has to be something out there more effective, i will cetainly think twice before investing in Tracker again.

Most trackers using GPS send data back via gsm/GPRS/3G.
The units keep track of GPS points and send them back in a batch. So even if right now you don't have a fix you should get GPS breadcrumbs leading up to it.

The real problem is that GPS is equivalent to trying to look for a candle 20 miles away (the signal really is that weak). As such it is trivial to put together a jammer that renders the GPS section completely useless. Not theory - we tried it when testing our units and the competition and none of them worked. We tried some anti jamming algorithms but the weak signal doesn't give much room for dealing with it.
I'm not sure if Tracker have updated the VHF tech to include more data but that's the only real viable option for security.

A few years ago I was working on GPS systems for a classified device (can't say any more than that), and we did some experiments with a GPS jammer - a device freely available on the web for under £100 rendered GPS useless within a 20 mile radius - yes 20 miles.

Hi Guys

Just thought I would post picture of my recovered Cat C car, re sprayed Silver. It had three sets of number plates in it along with jewellery and clothing from other robberies. They hit a wall and ended up in a tree, half the engine is missing.

Could be a good add for Audi inasmuch that the drivers footwell was not encroached in any way, probably saved drivers life, any other car, who knows. Anyhow just be carefull out there.

As my miss us won't let me get another one, I have a couple of bits for sale if interested.

Glove box latch from Audi, didnt get round to fitting it.
Goodyear assumes 275x30x19 4-5mm
Set of Weissenfels clack n go snow chains set up for the above size tyre.
Reg no RS07FOR offers, I have two weeks to assign plate at a cost of 100.00 so if anyone wants it let me know soon.

And that about all I have left.

On a brighter note I am test driving a AM Vantage this week, total change I know but it's not too shabby.

Cheers for now.....

Why won't the missus let you get another rs4?

A vantage is like crack for car thieves. I would think they will line up and take numbers to steal that vs an audi wagon.

Anyway hope your insurance payout is fair and the new car sounds fantastic. There's really nothing on the road that looks half as nice as the modern Astons

It's the second time we have been burgled now and Detective said that the crew that has been nicked only go for Audis BMW and Mercs. I asked the Detective how many Astons had been stolen in the herts beds and bucks area and he said none to his knowledge.

Hey, if they want to steal a car they will find a way. However I have just upgraded the alarm and fitted laminated glass to all windows and doors along with high security locks. also i am having three stainless steel hydraulic bollards across my drive. I'd like to see them try now.
