RS4 virgin

Post by Desmo » Wed Nov 03, 2004 11:03 pm

Hi Folks

I'm about to buy my first RS4, offered to me by a local dealer. Its Azure blue with vanilla nappa interior and I'm told only a couple were made. Is this b*******t. It looks absolutely immaculate, with loads of the right goodies, but has 40k (is this a problem). Its up for £35k - does this sound right?

Its a Mar 01 UK car with FSH, 1 yr warranty. The nice bits are satnav/TV/Bose/esr and a few more.

Check out the RS4,s buyers guide that Golich scribed top of the RS4 forums.

Check cars had the belt service done at 40k,other than that it sound fair.
Very unusual colour scheme, not many azure blue going around especaliy withe vanila hide.......sounds very nice.

Cheers fc

Desmo,

Is it the one I pointed out in the For Sale section? More than liklely.

It's not bullshit as there were only a few in this special order colour. Is it really vanilla inside, or silver (which people mistake for cream)?
Can't moan about miles at 40k, just make sure it's had it's 40k cambelt service done and the price is quite optimistic, but you may pay more as it's a more unique car.

In fact, it sounds pretty much the same as mine (I have a slightly different shade of blue called Santorin) silver leather and Nav+ etc, done 40 odd thousand miles- I hope it goes for £35k  :D

All the best,

Ben

I was tempted with going to look at this car. Azure blue is the Dark Metallic blue is it not? I thought Audi would paint any Audi any colour in the Audi range as long as you paid the £3,000 'Special Order paint' Price! Would also be interested to know if it has Beige (Vanilla) or Silver Grey interior, as with the 'Beige' it would be a stunning car, but not for £35K

When I was at the factory in 2000, there was a lipstick pink RS4 sitting in the pound waiting delivery, turned out to belong to Steffi Graff and the colour was mixed using her lippy as the colour sample....... or so we were told by the nice German tour guide :drink: :drink: :drink: :sleeping_2:

Azure is dark blue - you're right. IIRC special paint costs £1500 but the "beige" leather will more than likely be silver.

Cheers

wrsquire,
the RS4 was only officially available in six colours in the uk. Special order paint colours were not an option (just as folding mirrors weren't offered in the uk either), but one or two owners must have either pulled a few strings, or ordered directly with Germany.

John, there are loads of cars about with special paint so it can't have been too hard to order one I wouldn't have thought. Anything is possible when the cheque book is open

Cheers

Ben, loads of RS4s ?
I know of 3 special order blue ones in the uk.
How many other rhd uk cars are there in psecial paint ?

I appreciate cars in the rest of the world were available to special order colours, but Audi UK set the spec for the UK, which is why we didn't get offered folding mirrors, alcantara seats, different wheels, etc, etc.

Agreed though, if you have a strong enough relationship with your dealers or wave the correct amount of wedge anything is possible ;)

Sounds like a nice car - wish you had a pic of the colours (ooh where's me handbag:)).

If it has had a 40k service and came with more warranty than you wouldnt be too far off IMHO, esp if they gave you a top book part ex price. However I would recommend a private purchase of the same year for obvious reasons - these would go for about 30-31k privately... Just pay for a specialist to give it a once over - and that will be likely to be MUCH more thorough than any dealer's 'approved' once over...

John,

There's 2 on Autotrader at the moment in special order colours at least, metallic black - Fontain have one.

Mine is special order, Fontain have one in Santorin also (their own), Swifts sold one in either the same or Azure recently also, there was another Azure one sold at Poole Audi recently, also another Azure from Fontain earlier this year. These are just the blue ones I know about!

There's at least one Merlin purple car and who knows what else.

Here's mine for those who haven't seen it:
