No way is it a 15-17 hour job. If it was it would be more than £1200!

Price sounds about right, my dealer came in at £1000.

Cheers

Ben

Thatcham gives 8 hours to supply and fit a clutch, at £87 per hour....£696 plus vat, so how much is the clutch kit?

Ahh, ok. Then they gave me a quite reasonable price.. I'm sure it depends from place to place, and I must count on a price a like that on many other places too -- at least something like it. The taxes and VAT etc is very very high in Norway, so that counts a little too.

They said they have to change 4 parts; the clutch itself, two wheel shafts or something and one gasket belonging to the exhaust system. So I guess this is what is costs :-) and my RS4 will be perfect and in good health.

Parts should include:
Clutch cover and preasure plate.
Realease bearing
Release bearing sleeve
Two exhaust joint rings.

The price sounds about what I've seen. But 15-17hours sounds like a hell of a lot work. But assuming cost of clutch part at approx £200 and £1000 for labour divided by £70/hr = 14hrs work so this sounds about right.

Unfortunately I don't know exactly what all has to removed to change the clutch.

I thought the norm was a 10 hr job to replace the clutch - least thats what i was quoted by my dealer.. im just waiting to get my baby back after a new cluch & gearbox repair..

They should all be signing from the same hymn sheet, if you input the job into the service computer, it will come back with standard time, the only variant in all of this is the price that the dealer charges per hour, we know central London is more than Exeter, would be interesting to run a thread on this...........

Let us know how you get on with the clutch.

Nice looking car chap :D The first RS4 I saw was a black one on Maximillian Straße in Munich and I remember dreaming about having one for ages :D

Cheers

Ben
