Well, that was fun. Got there last night in the sideways wind and pouring rain, with a box full of battery, oils, coolant, brake fluid, you name it. Battery tie down bar nuts were seized solid and rounded, brute force and ignorance managed to prize those off.
Battery on, found that the coolant tank was totally empty (should be almost full), the fresh oil that had been put in to the empty sump was already pitch black. Tyres all on sub-20 psi. A neighbour pulled up and was asking about the car. Explained I was taking her back to her rightful home to make her well again and was royally pissed off with how she had been treated. He confirmed what I thought, she had been sitting there for the last year, yet somehow has an MOT pass from March this year, right.......
Stuck my two jerry cans of V-Bastard in and fired her up. She started like a champ first time and sounded perfect until she warmed up, then started to struggle to idle. Managed the steep driveway hill start on the god awful clutch/lightweight flywheel the idiot had stuck in despite my warnings not to and off we trundled.
She did me proud. I stayed off the turbo and only went to around 3krpm but she pootled along at 60 up and down the hills on the 45 min drive home and didn't miss a beat. While the steering wheel was off to one side, she was tramlining nicely and the brakes well, forget about them currently, things just felt right with the world.
The grip, the grip the grip, oh the grip. Even in the pissing down rain she felt lovely going around tight stuff and just went wherever I pointed her with no fuss. Got home, rolled on to the driveway and she realised she was back and didn't have to show off for daddy anymore, hunted her idle briefly then turned herself off before I had to

.
Got up this morning to find the 2 chav blokes from across the road (1 had a an old merc van stickered to death and with hulk green headlights, a lemon yellow micra with half the exhaust removed "BECAUSE RACE CAR" and the other has an old crappy civic with mis-matched body panels and also misses half its exhaust because race car) out on the pavement chatting and looking at the stable. RS6, STI, S3 on the drive and the Cupra kicked out on to the road. Ooh yeah. Is it rude to have that many cars and hardly drive? Care.
Off to the garage this morning and I actually don't care about the outcome, I have her back and that is all that matters.
