Drivers Display showing "Door Open"

Post by 993vic » Tue Oct 26, 2004 1:50 pm

About 1 in 10 start-ups result in the computer picture showing Drivers Door Open - when it is not! Sometimes it goes away when I slam the door shut again - sometimes not.

I guess its a faulty switch, but I can't see where it is? (Nothing obvious on the A-Pillar) Any ideas?

TIA
Vic

i had this problem.

the door catch had to be replaced, i think the total bill was around £120, if you got warranty then you should claim off that.

Cheers

Thanks Bazza,
Time to test out the warranty then!

Same here. I fixed mine recently as I had the trim off recently to change my antenna amps. All I did was remove and replace the tiny connector and now it works. So must've been a dirty connector.

Also my hatch still plays up occasionally so I'll back-up the sentiment that if you have a warranty, get the catch replaced, because simply squirting WD40 in (what I did) doesn't provide a permanent fix...

Is there much you can do (if it's out of warranty) and you don't wantto take the trim off?

Vibration 'may' clear it, so try some light tapping with a rubber hammer. Also try squirting some WD40 into the catch.
