My RS5.... Dealer sold me a damaged car !!!
Re: My RS5.... Dealer sold me a damaged car !!!
Ah ok - much better.
In that case then I don't see any reason for the dealer not to sort it.
What I would suggest is that the RAC and Audi engineer simply have to confirm that the reason for the failure is down to the repair not being correct.
As the repair was done in 2012 I would expect it to be covered by the original repairer if shown to be faulty.
The problem is that I'm guessing that the original repairer isn't the same dealer who sold you the car.
As such there will be some to-ing and fro-ing whilst they work out what should be done (and importantly who pays what). I suspect that if the Audi engineer agrees the fault is due to the bad repair it'll be sorted sooner rather than later.
Does sound like things are moving so I don't think you need to be too concerned at the moment (I know the delay is a pain but you may get something out of it from the supplying dealer).

Re: My RS5.... Dealer sold me a damaged car !!!
Friend of mine bought a used 1M from main dealer - had it inspected for some issues independently and turned it had been in a significant accident but repaired by BMW (new parts with newer dates on them and also some issues with wind noise on windows). The selling salesman did not know it had been in an accident and had been asked as per usual at sale time - the key thing here though was that my friend contacted the previous owner who confirmed they had traded it in to that same dealer, with the damage fully known about and they had even traded it in at a slightly lower value due to the damage.
This was mostly caused by confusion in the dealer as the previous used car sales manager had recently left - the dealer swapped the car instantly with no come back and were spot on but just a FYI for you.
good luck with it all

I'm sure it will be sorted - imagine if you'd have bought through an independent who was a bit... difficult.
I think the best lesson from here is that whilst you expect more from a franchised dealer you shouldn't skimp on checking everything you can. The problem is with modern cars nowadays it's hard to do!

I never even tried the cruise control until a couple of weeks after I got the car. The test drive was only a 10 min affair and didn't really had chance to push every button.
Re: My RS5.... Dealer sold me a damaged car !!!
That's the point though- its your 40k-50k. You are perfectly entitled to push as much as you can.
Granted - you've stumbled into a very unusual situation but my opinion is that if the salesman doesn't want to let you try everything then something to hide.

I think the salesman only started shaving this year and couldn't even negotiate the price without going to manager...I've alway been unlucky with red car...lol

Re: My RS5.... Dealer sold me a damaged car !!!
Car booked in for this Wednesday for inspection so not really anything to report at the mo
Re: My RS5.... Dealer sold me a damaged car !!!
If the car isn't on the register the dealer can get off the hook.
There are hundreds of brand new cars damaged either by factory drivers or delivery drivers ( ie shipping etc ) and repaired then sold on with no record of any accident.
On the plus side I would not imagine a main dealer wanting this information made public so you should get sorted

Re: My RS5.... Dealer sold me a damaged car !!!
hi all, finally got my replacement rs5 in suzuka grey ,basically they refund what I pay for the damage one and i bought an ex demo 13 plate and pay the difference, it was the best deal I was ever going to get because according to them, they 3 chance of putting my old car right before I was considered a refund . First of all the salesman at the hand over of the replacement car was a totally clueless about rs5, and I've seen kids dress smarter working at McDonald. Did anyone know that the new rs5 don't have a Start button, unless you have keyless option...I think, because that the only way you going start it. I don.t think the face lifted rs5 is any better, in fact it feel cheaper and not as special, maybe it just me, but can't see me keeping this long.

Glad you got it sorted in the end... shame it took so long.
One thing though - the SOGA doesn't really define a fixed number of repair attempts... it's "reasonable" this and "reasonable" that.
For some simple repairs 3 could be considered too much.
