Gave the car a good wash today as was a bit dirty. Polished out a couple of little surface scratches too. Then went shopping. Came back and went to park, put it in reverse to be greeted by a long beep then nothing. Parked and looked and found a line running along the middle of the rear bumper in between the two middle parking sensors. Looks like the car behind me in Tesco car park bumped into the back of me and now my parking sensors are fubared! How bloody annoying and so ignorant of the other driver!

Any suggestions on how to find which sensor has failed? Only got factory rear sensors.

They click when they're working, so listen closely to each one with them active. The one not clicking is dead.

VCDS will also tell you which one is not working.

Thanks for the info guys. Can't try the clicking thing as after the long beep they turn off I believe. I have no access to VCDS unfortunately. I will try the obvious first and make sure one hasn't become unplugged, well I will when all this bloody snow stops and I can out there and underneath.

Haha. Nope. That just barks not beeps. It is partly me being lazy and becoming too reliant on the sensors when parking. Plus I only had a mild mod to the zoorst! Call it a temporary enhancement before treating myself to a non res cat back after my wedding in June

I had a fault on one of mine and had the long beep saying something was up.
Leave the engine off, put it in reverse, and you CAN actually hear the clicking noise even when one is faulty.
(might be difficult to hear if your old like me, or you might have a different fault).
Confirmed it was faulty by using VCDS and replaced faulty sensor
Stealers wanted £96 + VAT so I got an ebay one for £22:

I tried what you said and it worked. The rear left was the only one not clicking so no brainer really. Just ordered one from ebay £19 delivered.
