When it arrives unfortunately - but perhaps next week. Can't wait though! Then I might pop up to see the MRC chaps and see how the car reads on the rollers.
Any updates mate? Going to be in the market for some additional noise soon and keen to hear what you think of it. My current thinking is Milltek Non-res with oval black tails

Would you believe I still await the arrival of said APR RSC system. Call from Tuningwerkes to say that it is imminent, so shouldn't be too much longer. Hang fire with your purchase as it shouldn't be too much longer and I will report back here as soon as I have noise news.....

My APR RSC system is booked for a fitting on Friday, so not much longer to wait now I'm please to say. Fingers tightly crossed that it doesn't become a noisy pain in the ass. If I get the chance to do a before and after sound clip, I will.

Well, I've done it now - and I've very pleased with the result

Having havered around for months trying to decide whether I wanted to stick with stock or risk getting something that could turn out too noisy, I was apprehensive to say the least. The std setup was perfect for most of the time, but just never had that kick of rort when you opened the taps. But as the need for rort is normally such a relatively limited requirement, I was not sure if my needs could be satisfied. I did consider the various X-Pipe mods (generally understood to be too raucous), a Res Milltek (too quiet), Non-Res/Race Milltek (too noisy), but on the strength of recommendations from a few folks with experience of other APR RSC applications, I took the plunge, albeit a fairly expensive one....

Tuningwerkes in Croydon, Surrey, were my APR dealer of choice, primarily because I found them first (the Crawley-based Austec firm were actually nearer) and for the fact that the chap who runs that (Reuben) was so knowledgable and easy going on the phone. The system took an age to arrive, but that was about the only issue. It also seems that APR carefully control their distributers and dealers and don't give them much option for special deal pricing, although I managed to get the tail end of the "10% off and FreeFitting" offer.

Reuben showed me the systems as it was delivered and the quality of the whole package is remarkable. Tailpipe finishers all vacuum packed in a separate box, main system components packed in foam-formed protective stuff that you'd expect laptops to come in. All really very good. The quality of the fabrication is very good too I must say and the fit is absolutely spot-on.

I was able to sit in the little front-desk area and bash away on my laptop for a couple of hours whilst the pipe was fitted. Reuben called me out a few times to look at progress and I had not realised quite how far forward the APR system went - right up to the back of the CAT pipes. I knew when the car was fired up in the garage however, which made me initially concerned......

.... however, I need not have worried. At idle the note is little different from stock, perhaps a little deeper, but very little to show for the change of system other than the black-chrome tail pipes and the (not entirely to my taste) APR script on each of the 4 finishers. At this point Reuben blipped the throttle and a proper decent bark rang out, that to my ear was slightly more than I thought I needed. Either way, the deed was done, I'd already paid so they loaded up my stock system into the trailer (my car has factory towbar - massively useful...) and off I went.

South London traffic gave almost no opportunity for testing, but even up to 3000rpm on gentle throttle the sound is improved - still not noisy, but a much more prominent gargle, a creamy sort of expenvie V6 note with hints of Dino and Alfa GTV. I headed further south and onto a short stretch of dual carriageway and was in traffic cruising at 70mph on a gentle throttle - still peace and quiet.

Finally, I get on the A24 and can lift the revs and listen. Oh dear, I really should have done this earlier! What a sound - the gentle gurgle is far louder as the revs and throttle openings increase and it sounds expensive and no way chavvy. What a fabulous sound system - a perfect alternative to the B&O system when the mood takes. I've not had a chance to run with the windows down this weekend as it was too bloody cold, but I will seek out a tunnel somewhere this weekend and I will post a before and after clip if I can. I have the before (fortunately), so the after can be recorded when I get a chance.

Overall, I love it. There is absolutely NO drone, it's a very grown-up system and around town it slips by without being noticed if that's the mood you're in. Give it large however, and you can see where the development money went and the sound is spot-on. Blip the throttle when stationary and that bark is really quite pronounced and very melodic.

Happy!

Have now put a good few miles under the wheels and my view of the system remains the same. There is no drone whatsoever, either around town or at a (very) fast motorway cruise. In many ways it almost sounds best when in a medium throttle, as it goes up thought the revs - there a real melodious warble to it and a great bark when blipping the throttle on a down-change (6MT remember, so I have to do it myself.....) that makes you want to change gear a lot more.

WOT it is probably quite loud, but it's hard to appreciate how loud as the wind noise increases so much with the windows down that it gets drowned out. But drop the rear central armrest and open the ski-hatch and it really sounds good...!

But here's a thing. We've all heard the fart that comes with up shifts on the S-Tronic, but with the APR there's a really audible wumph when you gently roll off and on the throttle at above 3000rpm. It probably does it at 7000 too when changing gear, but you can't hear that really.

Still waiting to record a small clip of the 'after', but don't want to upset the neighbours yet!

2 Bags very well spent as far as I am concerned.

Stick a fleece on, go fling it through a tunnel all four windows down.

Moving from res to non-res last February I knew it was loud, but only when gunning it through Hatfield tunnel windows down did I full appreciate how savagely brutal it was. I was shocked! Genuine laugh out loud at the windscreen moment

Looking forward to the vid

OK, will fleece up and try it soon. Startup is definitely deeper and obviously different and blipping when stationary is a constant thrill....

Vid might take a while as I have a leaking piston seal on one of the Movit calipers, so that might take a week or so to sort out. However, it will come.
