Dodgy motor...?

Hi All,

I'm still in my quest for an S4 (B5), and have just been to a 1999 model (low mileage) - the general condition of the vehicle (and the service history) do appear to confirm the car's reported mileage.
But there's one curious thing that's bothering me - the paint on the bottom of every door handle has been touched up (with not quite the right colour paint). I have never seen this on any Audi before and it isnt an area I would expect to be especially prone to corrosion.
There is no ther evidence of bodywork touch-up or respray.
Does anyone have any ideas please?
