Whats it worth? (with a difference...)

Post by Teutonic Tuner » Wed Feb 06, 2013 10:27 pm

Ok so heres my forsale ad, only question is, what value do the quilted seats and carbon backs add to the value...

I have decided to put my pristine B7 RS4 up for sale purely on the basis that it just isn’t getting used like it should be. Cars like these deserve to be driven regularly and it’s just a waste for it to be sat on the drive to only get its legs stretched for a few short trips over the weekend.

Details are as follows:

Sprint Blue saloon

Date of registration 16-02-2006 (cheaper road tax band, £260 per year)

Road tax until June 2013

Current mileage 39k

Full Audi service history, last full service carried out just before Christmas.

The alloys were refurbed at Lepsons before I bought the car but the front left alloy has some kirbing now and there are a couple of minor marks on the other alloys. Tyres are Michelin Pilot Super Sports with a good 5-6mm of tread all round.

Bodywork is in near perfect condition with the usual amount of stone chips and a couple of minor scratches to the front bumper but there are no dents/trolley marks to the doors etc.

There are no problems with the DRC suspension with no leaks. 2 dampers and a valve were replaced 27-03-2008 and pressures checked at Camberley Audi 26-02-2011 and pressure were bang in the middle of the acceptable range.

I always like to do something a little different with my cars and on this I decided to add a genuine Audi DTM carbon front splitter, fit a JHM short shifter from the US and took the plunge to have the front seats re-trimmed with new matching Valcona Leather Black Metallic (sourced from Germany) with quilted details and at the same time I skinned the backs of the seats and the seat-belt loops with genuine 2x2 twill 650grams/sqm carbon fibre (matches the carbons interior inlays) finished at my local bodyshop with a clear UV lacquer to give a perfect finish. It should be noted that the carbon on the back of the passenger seat is absolutely perfect but the carbon on the back of the driver’s seat isn’t as perfect as I would have liked. The reason for this is that I tried a different resin which doesn’t have the clarity of the other seat and is very slightly cloudy in patches, I am being a little picky here and most people wouldn’t notice this but being a bit of a perfectionist I thought I should point this out. It doesn’t show up in photos as glossy carbon fibre is very difficult to photograph. This doesn’t detract from what is a very cool interior mod and I have had lots of people comment on how good the carbon looks.

Interior is in near perfect condition as you would expect since it has just had the front seats re-trimmed. The seats pre-retrim were excellent and only showed minor wear to the driver’s seat bolster.

Apart from the interior mods and a JHM Short shifter which is well worth fitting, the car is absolutely standard. I have disconnected the exhaust valves so ther are open all the time which gives a must better sound all of the time instead of just when at higher rpms when the sport button is pressed.

There's a guy username noddy r32 who's looking for a low mileage, sprint saloon.

Maybe worth a PM

Dunno about value Teut, but I'll give you something to swap seats - you probably ain't gonna get the value out of them when you sell it ;)

I was going to suggest the same - swap the seats with cash your way & get back half or more of what they cost you then sell the car with regular buckets. On here you have an audience of RS4 owners many of whom would buy your seats on Autotrader you have an audience mostly looking for a standard car.

This is my old car and is a very very healthy rs4.
Who ever buys it is very lucky.
Along with all the audi servicing i changed the oil and filter every 5k.
Looks better than ever.
Hope it goes to a good home.

With the history and the work you've done I would say towards mid-£20k's as the care you've taken coupled with the mileage proves that this is a well looked after vehicle.

Thanks for the comments guys. And thanks for your comments RSinclair, how is Ferrari 360 ownership? Have you done more miles than me?

I really don't want to sell and it felt weird hitting the 'submit' button last night on this thread but as long as it goes to a good home it's time to rethink my transport needs!

I don't want to sell the seats separately as it would feel like I was breaking the car up so whoever wants the seats will have to take the rest of the car as well!

Looks like I have some more thinking to do on what it's worth though!

What are you planning on getting next?

If it's any consolation, i don't use mine a lot but it's such a joy to jump back into it when i do get a chance.

...nothing so far Alex, we don't 'need' 2 cars at the moment so I will have to fight the urges to go car hunting and stay off Pistonheads! Lets see if I last until the summer...
