I have given up on the dealer trying to sell the above Mugello able car, he is so useless and I have had enough of him.

I have found another car and fallen in Love with it, details to follow

Llooks like the purchase day is going to be this Saturday! So excited.
Does it not come with two keys?

If not, I'd make a condition of sale him getting a second one. If they're like other modern cars this can be a ball ache and more expensive than you'd think.

Only comes with one key......can't be that difficult, place an order with the dealership, be there to get them all recodeded, £250 later......voila you have two keys and no money!

Personally I'd rather not have the aggro. Is that definitely what they cost? What about your costs to get it sorted?

Also, where's the second key? I am sure the vendor is 100% kosher, but reading the forums these car are already theft targets. Would having an unexplained missing key be a problem? Can/do Audi reprogram the codes on all keys if you have a missing one?

Does it come with the 3rd Plastic key with the plastic bar code tab?
Money can't buy you love, but it can buy you a well sorted racecar

I think when you program new keys it automatically blocks out the previous ones. I could be thinking about my Alfa though (that one was £250 per key). I thought the Audi keys were cheaper and you could program yourself.

Typically they are around £160 ish from a dealer, when the keys are coded only those that are coded at the same time (you need them all with you when they are coded) will start the car in future.
Once you have the SKC (Secret Key Code) then they can be coded with VCDS, they don’t even need to be brand new dealer supplied keys:
buy the correct key from eBay (which will normally be the ‘spare’ key that never got used or handed back with the car)
get a new key blade and transponder from someone like hickleys.com
get the key cut by a locksmith who has a laser key cutter
programme the transponder with VCDS

Job done, the last one I did cost me £50 for a brand new 3 button remote, fully coded to the car. (but it is more hassle doing it this way)
VCDS HEX+CAN owner - covers all VAG cars (PM me if you require VCDS coding in Kent)

Finally!

I have placed a deposit on a car and will be picking it up in a couple of weeks (once their plate is on retention and the new V5, Tax Disc and MOT is back).

I am buying through a really nice guy called Melvin who runs Sunnyside Auots in Reading, the reviews and feedback on this guy are amazing.

He has owned the car for a couple of years and I am the 4th owner,

No photos as of yet, I have not seen it, a friend of mine who is an Audi Trader went and saw it for me, I did not want to cloud his judgement or his decision by being there. After the thorough inspection and drive he told me, he would have bought it as his own car. A deal was agreed with Melvin, deposit paid and now I wait.

It is a 2007/07 with 53k miles Black Avant with Recaros, Scorpion Res/Val Exhaust, FASH (Verified), Upgraded Gallardo front Brakes, Anthacite Alloys and Carbon Trim. It also has Bluetooth and TV. Full spec to follow once I have it .

It is CAT D. It had a side impact in 2008 no airbags deployed. I am confident as my trader pal is, that no chassis damage has occured (they had it on ramps having a look around, no chassis twists or spt welds) and that it is a safe and good purchase. The other car I was looking at was 83k 2006 Mugello Avant, as I plan on driving this until the end of its days, the CAT D did not bother me, the young mileage, exhaust, colour and condition sold it to me.

It was last serviced in December 2012 but once I pick it up it is going to Audi Exeter for the 140 point check and any work that is needed will be completed, It is also having a new key ordered to prevent any lingering keys out there working anymore. I will want it to have fully functional bluetooth and the ability to listen to my iphone's music through the cars speakers so will be looking for advice of where this can be done. I am also going to get it supaguarded and any stone chips sorted and worn seats replaced. As i have bought at a competitive price I am going to invest some of the morney I have saved in bringing it back to life. It has a black front grill and standard silver on the side rails etc, I think I will leave it like that. Happy it has a £2k Scorpion exhaust system as it would have been a temptation. His reason for selling was that he is in his 50's and every younger round Reading was always trying to race him off the lights, my pal the trader also sawe that he had recently bought an S4 and that was going to be his new car.

I am so excited and also wanted to thank everyone on this site for their help and support, I look forward to keeping you posted on my progress and meeting up with any of you as and when,

All the best

Marty

Mike - Are you talking about the RS4 logo on the DIS? Mine appears as soon as I put the key in the ignition and this happens even if the RNSE is switched off.
Are you saying that when I move to a 2012 RNSE upgrade, this logo wont appear or is their a logo that appears on the RNSE screen itself?

No im talking about the one on the RNS-E screen when you turn the key. Yours may not do it as they didn't do it from factory. It has to be set using the Vagcom cable.

Okay so I picked it up yesterday and drove all the way from Reading to the West Country.

Had a smile on my face the whole way. Car seems perfect in terms of power delivery and performance.

It is going into Audi on Saturday for the following things to be looked at:

The boot only works off the fob
The non driver doors need a double beep on the fob to open
The new spare key has arrived so I need them both coded, this also gives me peace of mind that no other keys out there will work.

I love it so much already and have taken a great shot of it at the petrol station (gulp!) any reminders on how to upload hoots are welcome.

So happy I am finally an RS4 owner and the Scorpion exhaust is to die for

One press to unlock just the drivers door or 2 presses to open all the doors is normal. You can change this with the VCDS cable if you don't like it.

Okay so picked up the new car (Ralph) on Thursday and then after some pottering around locally decided to drive up to London on the weekend.

Was really impressed with the speed and response of the vehicle, here are my notes.

When on full lock it feels like the wheels are rubbing against something, is this just becuase they are big in the arches and on full lock there is a slight rub? Does not seem to effect the car and seems like a small issue.

Then whilst driving into London the Battery Light came on and then finally the battery light came on the dash and before you knew it the car was on the side of the road with no power!

Greenflag came out and said the alternator belt was missing which was very annoying. I got them to remover the car back to Audi Exeter as it was booked in for some work as well.

This morning Audi rang up and confirmed they had the car and that they were going to get the following work completed

Code the new key(s)
Set up the keys so one click opens all
Fit a new horn as one is not working
replace the alternator belt and check all is okay with the pulley etc
replace the chrome window trim that has the white water inflection
Put Audi rings and RS4 badge on the rear (were not here when I got the car)

They are also going to do the big 100+ point check so will be intersted to see if it comes up with anything. I love this car so much and plan on holding onto it forever so spending a little bit of money to get it sorted does not bother me, and I want to build a relationship with the main dealer!

On the M4/M5 I was on cruise at 83mph and was managing 21.8 mpg. I think I am up to Rotherham in it on Wednesday and so will see what I can average on that trip.

It is an awesome piece of kit though and I have enjoyed every minute of ownership so far (even the above ones!)

Well done, glad you're enjoying it. But seriously, take it off cruise control, stop worrying about MPG and give it some welly! It really coms inot its own when accelerating at motorway speeds.
Nice to see your spending some money on sorting out those little niggles.
I hope they are not charging you for the onle click opens all. It would take another forum member with a VCDS cable a matter of minutes to sort that out. Which is a good point, you should invest in a VCDS cable, will save you money in the long run if you plan on keeping the car and will make the whole RS onwership more enjoyable (like seeing the RS4 logo whe nyou start the car on the sat nav screen).

I hope you paid at least 25% less vs. An equivalent example for a Cat D
