FK Automotive - FAIL!

Post by AdrianD » Mon Feb 04, 2013 3:40 pm

Guy's,

A word of warning as i know a large number of you use them. I recently purchased some replacement LED lights FK Automotive through their www.carparts-tuning.co.uk website and the boot lid ones failed to work. This is when my nightmare began... Try calling FK using their number on the website, it will ring and ring then you will be disconnected... So i revert to using their online support. It takes about 4 - 5 days each time to get a response.. First they asked for photos to back up the evidence so i had to refit the lights and take a photo of them not working... They have now responded saying they can see nothing wrong and as they've been fitted they will not do a replacement!!! WTF!

They are faulty, fitted yes but not legally fit for purpose as the fog lights don't work.. Not sure where i stand as they're based in Germany.. I'm guessing i've lost my money... I will try and claw it back through Paypal but I'm not holding out much hope... Really seriously upset with them now...

FK Automotive - FAIL!

Post by ROY » Mon Feb 04, 2013 5:27 pm

Had a set on my Avant no issues.
If I remember correctly the middle ones are just plug and play its the outer ones that get a bit fiddly.
Should me a straight forward job
Have you tried running a test + & - direct to the new lamp from the battery ??
Just a thought

Also bear in mind that if you used a credit card via PayPal and the purchase was over £100 they might be able to help.

Yep, there's nothing on there that i can get wrong... So, to confirm, i can connect these direct from the battery to test them?

Just a thought but for the inner lamps don't you connect the car loom into the conversion relay and then plug the lamp in to the conversion loom.
Can't remember but I'm sure it was like a box type thing that I had to secure inside the tailgate on each side with double sided tape

Did they send them with the kit ? Think there are 4 in the kit ?

Will have a look for the instructions at work tomoz

There was a large resister which you plug in and stick to the inside of the lid but thats about it...

Whats more important though is that they have completely washed their hands of me, no customer service at all, basically, we've got your money and we don't care if they work of not cos we're not replacing them or giving you your money back... Honestly the tone in their email is shocking... they sound like gangsters lol..

Yep that's the resistors, they are to fool the car into thinking you still running filament bulbs so you get no errors.
I would test the LED s and see if the light up with a voltage tester or even a small household batter would be sufficient to illuminate one they don't need much power

Raking my brains here pal but it looks like you've do everything right, without checking them with a voltage tester I'm snookered

Trups where are you !!!!! You're the LED legend

PayPal will just refund you money no problem - they are very good at sorting S*** out
