I had this on a Discovey 4 - very good option especially in winter
It had a fuel burning heater in the engine compartment operated remotely by the key fob
Look out the window oh dear all frozen up - press fob - 5 mins later all de iced and a nice warm cabin :bigblink:
Ford Jag and Land rover also have heating elements in the windscreen for instant de icing
Gone but not forgotten boohoo !!!

The D2 S8 had a heated front screen. The ice would just melt off. It was a much more sophisticated system than the Ford one too, for reasons I cannot remember. Rare option, though.

Call me old fashioned, but if I'm ever lucky enough to buy a C6 RS6, I'd want the dash key fob, not keyless. Far too many horror stories of keyless cars being nicked. My car port is immediately alongside the kitchen and kitchen door, I'd forever be wondering if the car was locked.
i Agree thats why i never took the option on thnew RS4

If it's not too late, spec it now. I can be forgetful but the keyless on my C6 is awesome and so useful.

I have the Advance key option on my D3 A8 and it works perfectly, I do not know weather they run off the same system in the RS6 but with mine even if I am standing right next to any of doors on the vehicle and someone else tries to open the door it simply wont open even if I am standing right next to them... Another interesting thing which I noticed is if you "Accidently" leave your keys in the boot and close it with the Electric Tailgate it will close then instantly open back up again to let you know the keys are in the boot!
I do not know if this is the same in the C6 RS6 Saloon/Avants but it's pretty interesting try it and see if it also works on yours! :)

I do apologize for zombie posting, but is this Audi original or aftermarket?

I'd be very interested in this now that we're having -5 during nighttime... TQ

I tried it out today, I set it for 45 minutes. Ambien temperature was 11C
After 20 minutes coolant temperature was 47C (using VCDS)
After 45 minutes coolant temperature was 58C (using VCDS)

Engine block was luke-warm to the touch. It also turned on the fan to heat the cabin, but I switched that off. Why waste heat on the passangers, I want to warm up the engine.
A little dissapointed the coolant temperature wasnt higher, but 58C is a lot better than a cold start.

Next time I will make note of the fuel level in VCDS before and after. I dont know how accurate that is, if the smallest unit is 1 litre its not going to tell me much.
