Btw, I never noticed the exhaust flaps make that opening/shutting noise before (don't spend a lot of time stood behind my own car). I just thought the vacuum actuator pulled them open and that was that until they closed again. Wonder if I do have some sort of vac leak :s

Or just remove the vacuum lines and plug them with a slightly oversized wood-screw.

Btw, I reckon you're right P_G, there's no way I can see (I'm not a flow engineer of course!) that this *particular* implementation of an x-pipe can generate any power - if anything it seems like it might lose power! Looking at my x-pipe compared to stock resonators the stock has a much smoother flow path. Not strictly true because the type of metal used, pipe diameter / length and flow path also have a lot to contribute. That's why some people like titanium exhausts because they give a more unique note. Most Audi exhuausts are made of type 302 steel where as after markets use Type 204 which gives a different sound. Pipe diameter also differs, most aftermarket are 2.5" and aboove and OEM is 2.25" (but then this is the big factor in resonance drone) and then there are the baffles and the shape / internal area of the silencers. Yes it is, the original cats are good if not better than the aftermarket ones but you will need to gut the pre cats, to get the same gains, if filter were marketing a performance exhaust why didn't they enlarge the bore and fit either an x or h pipe in? There has been many tests in the states to show how good the original system is compares to some aftermarket exhausts.

Yeah, seems to be a bit of burble/popping on throttle lift off. The crossover/x-pipe that I had fitted replaced the stock centre silencer (a.k.a "resonators"). The centre silencer (on stock cars) sits across both pipes between the backboxes (a.k.a "mufflers" or "rear silencers") and the main catalytic converters (a.k.a "main cats"). Non-resonated systems, such as the Milltek non-res systems, often just have straight pipes ("straight" as in it's just pipe, not that it's necessarily in a straight line) from the main cats through to the back boxes.Rigsby1208 wrote:I'm looking for a bit more growl as well, but without any drone.
