Exhaust options: more "growl" but not too loud?
Re: Exhaust options: more "growl" but not too loud?
Indeed it does. Maybe theres' some reasoning behind that method, but wouldn't two formed-cut, then spliced&welded together sections, have been easier and more effective ?

The way taken in those pics is supposedly quicker / easier. Reduced cross over area for scavenging but like said if it works....

Which reminds me, I've still got this sitting in the garage, ready to try at some point:
(yes it does "x")

Yeah, I was a little disappointed since they said it would be like this, which *looks* far more elegant and freer flowing...Timster wrote:Indeed it does. Yeah, seems to be a bit of burble/popping on throttle lift off. In terms of cabin volume it's a fair bit louder when given a bit of wellyP_G wrote:If they have a proper mandrel bending machine it should be ok and no indentations but that looks more like four sections TIG welded to a middle pipe section? But if it does the job then ideal. Do you get any throttle lift off / clutch ride exhaust burble / popping?

I'll try and get a video done at lunch time.

Not having much success sorting a video, it's either snowing, dark or my phone battery runs out.
Here's what I managed to grab earlier. Warm start, valves closed then valves opened at 0:20 then battery ran out.

Nice one Tony. Sound good.
Where did you place the camera for that as I can still here the engine as well as the exhaust when you rev it? I think I can make out 2 tailpipes but they look round not oval?
Edit: just realised that was with valves closed! Sounds a lot better than standard or have I forgotten how good the standard exhaust sounds?

It was about a foot back from the rear and a foot to the right. You can kinda make out the two (stock) pipes. I know it's a bit crap, but it's all I had so thought I'd just post it to avoid the wrath of the MikeFishMikeFish wrote:Nice one Tony. Sound good.

Valves opened right at the end 0:20 but only one small rev. I'm gonna see if I can get out tonight now missus H and the kids are asleep

not goint to tare your exhaust to pieces but not too keen on the x , also it should be as close to the cats/downpipes ass possible, all in it sounds great, and please you didnt spend stupid money for miltek which is just the same exhaust with less baffles in the cans.

PS putting your knee through the Bose is the best mod you have done yet. Now get some decent speakers. You can probably pick up a replacment Bose for pennies on the bay.
Or did you mean the grill? You must have really clouted it to go through the grill and damage the speaker!

Yeah, might just be the grill -will check it out in the morning. Freakin hurt tho, right on my ass. Did that thing where you look around to make sure nobody was looking, but was in a country park miles from anywhere thankfully.MikeFish wrote:Or did you mean the grill? Btw, I never noticed the exhaust flaps make that opening/shutting noise before (don't spend a lot of time stood behind my own car). I just thought the vacuum actuator pulled them open and that was that until they closed again. Wonder if I do have some sort of vac leak :s

sounds great!
I'm guessing here, but also sounds like you need to put a bit of lube on the exhaust valves?
Re: Exhaust options: more "growl" but not too loud?
Sorry - I shouldn't laugh but that's funny! It's the kinda thing I would do - all in the name of a video for us lot!TonyHayers wrote:PS slipped on ice getting back in car and put my knee through the driver door bose speaker
